Babies jabs!! Worried!

Has anyone had babies jabs been done late? My little girl is 9 weeks old tomorrow and I haven't been able to get her an appointment until the 22nd for her 8 week jabs! Is this too late? Will this effect her in anyway? I'm assuming her 12 and 16 week ones will also be done later? Sad
I tried explaining to the receptionist I needed a sooner appointment but she was adamant it was the earliest appointment she could give me ConfusedConfused

No it's not too late. Many people deliberately delay, for various reasons.

@username723 My sons 8 week ones were delayed at the start of the year too. My GP surgery cancelled the baby vaccinations to do covid vaccination clinics instead 🙄
But it was all fine, 2nd set given 5 weeks later (scheduled for 4 weeks later but they cancelled the appointment due to another covid vaccine clinic), then 3rd set given 4 weeks after that.

Aw that's reassuring thank you both!

My son had his 8 weeks at 12 weeks as he was in hospital at 8 weeks for something unrelated. His 12 and 16 week vaccinations were also then pushed back by four weeks. It’s fine!

My LO jabs were also delayed he was closer to 10 weeks for his first lot. Don't worry 😊

That will be fine. My babies are delayed by a couple of weeks as she's part of a vaccine study so has all her jabs at the hospital and we have to fit the schedule of the study nurse.

@AegonT That sounds really interesting!! Do you mind me asking what kind of trial it is?
RossIsTheBestFriend · 08/09/2021 22:48

@AegonT Study that should say, not trial 🙄🤣

We are still waiting for 8 week jabs too! Currently booked in for 11 weeks but won't be shocked if gets changed again!

It's for adding the Men ACYW to the NHS infant jabs schedule. Studying different intervals by looking at side effects and immune response. My baby is in the group having one dose at 12 weeks and one at 12 months. You can already get this vaccine privately if you want your baby to have it.

They used to be given later and then the schedule was changed to protect tiny babies but also so that if they missed their appointments due to colds and coughs time didn't run on too much. The schedule was compressed. No harm to your baby
