10 month old - what else can I do?

I have a 10 month old (9 months corrected) and looking for ideas to help him learn and things to fill the day/games to play. He's not crawling yet so working on that everyday and he's not clapping or waving yet. I do read to him most days but mostly the 'That's not my' books. We go out for a walk as well daily and sometimes go to the play park but what else can we do to fill our day? I'm not sure what they should be able to do this age so wanting to help encourage his development as much as I can

Have a look at Pinterest.
Or Google heuristic play.

Mine loved messy play at that age. Spaghetti died with food colouring or rice, flour, paints to mess in. Granted it’s a messy yucky job but my little girl Loved it.
Other than that sitting down together singing nursery rhymes, showing him the actions to various ones like wind the bobbin up and head shoulders knees and toes.
That’s not my books are fab! Dd is 2.5 and still
Adores them!
All that being said, you don’t need to cram your day full of activities either despite what you read everywhere they don’t need entertaining every minute of every day. A quick game of peekaboo is enough or sitting him in his High chair with a few toys while you cook or clean and talk to them throughout is perfectly fine!

I follow a great Instagram page called an activity a day and it's given me so many things to try at home that could be worth a look, I have a 10 month old too and use wooden block shapes to work on picking things up ( he just likes to sit and bash them together to be honest) and to try and encourage little one to stand I sit him on my knee facing the side with the sofa in front of us and put his toys on the sofa so he has to reach for them, I then hold his body while he tries to stand and get his toys. He loves stacking cups ( not stacking them but I stack them and he likes knocking them all down) also likes stacking rings he throws them around. He quite liked when I sat him up and I sat oooosite and rolled a ball he would bash it around until it came back to me when I would give lots of praise so that became his favourite game. I also sometimes if I'm needing to do something just put him in floor in kitchen with pans and wooden spoon and that keeps him entertained while I do washing up. He loves musical toys so I got some second hand musical rattles / shakers / drum off market place and he loves that! But mostly just enjoy the time together and don't worry about hun needing to develop it will all come naturally when he's ready x

My schedule with that age was:
7am get up, milk, nappy change and get dressed
7.30am - breakfast
8-8.45am - let them play on the floor while I had coffee/breakfast
Nap time! 9-10am
10am - milk/snack
Somewhere between 10-12pm - go out for a walk, to the park, library, baby group, coffee with a friend
12ish - lunch
12.30-1pm - wind down time in bedroom, gentle music, lights, stories
Nap time! 1pm-3pm
3pm - milk/snack
3.30pm-5pm - play on the floor, sit in the garden, go for a walk
5-5.30pm - tea then some TV while I cleared up
5.45ish - bath time
6.30pm - milk
7pm - bed

Toys they particularly liked at this age - musical instruments, ball pit, duplo, kitchen stuff, jar lids, bangles, empty tissue boxes with things inside.

This is a fairly typical day for my 9 month old:

6am - wakes, milk, nappy change

6:30 - 7:00 - play with toys. He likes blocks, things he can bang together, his shape sorter, a ball drop toy. One of his favourite things is rolling back and forth a huge beach ball.

7:00 - breakfast

7:45 - 9:30 - more play, as above. Might also sing some songs etc. He is crawling and pulling up on furniture so he likes to do that a lot.

9:30 - 11:30 nap

11:30 - milk

12:00 - lunch

1:00 - 2:30 - we try and do messy or sensory play. He LOVES playing with a foil blanket. Sometimes he just rustles it, sometimes we make it into a cave with a flashing light toy inside. He also likes playing with spaghetti or other messy, tactile things. I have some mini canvases that I splodge paint onto then stick in a ziplock bag so he can mash them around. He loves it and they make cute little artworks to give to people. He likes ice cubes in a tuff tray too.

2:30 - 3:30 - nap

3:30 - walk

4:30 - milk

5:00 - dinner

5:45 - 6:30 - we read stories and sing songs etc. He really likes those ‘touch and feel’ books, and he loves the ‘that’s not my…’ range too.

6:30 - bath

7:00 bed

@applesandbananays I follow the same page on Instagram that @penguinparty00 has suggested - “An Activity A Day”. She posts loads of activity ideas for all ages (most using household objects or low cost toys), toys to suit different age ranges and work on different skills etc. It’s brilliant for getting ideas 😊

As others have said though - you don’t need to fill every second of their day. My DS has just turned 10m and some of his favourite things at the moment are his ballpit, ball drop tower thing, stacking cups, musical instruments and pop-up toys 😊

Treasure baskets are great at this age
Shakers
Anything they can bash together
Loads of floor time to help gross motor skills

We go to a couple of classes a week and then just day to day chores, supermarket trips, coffee shop etc. It's all good engagement.
