Hi my baby's 6 months old now and so far has only had like sweet potato, weetabix, prunes, banannas, carrots, parsnip only a hand full of foods but I'm really struggling on what foods or meals I can do, how can I make sure she's getting enough of the nutrients she needs like iron and things like that and if anyone has any tips or ideas or advice for me please let me know, I'm a first time mum and worrying I'm not doing enough for her to get the nutrition she needs

I honestly wouldn't worry about food for nutrition at 6 months. Almost all of their calories still come from milk at this age. They can eat anything (cut appropriately) except honey and whole nuts from 6 months.

There’s an expression ‘food is for fun before one’ or something like that!
At that age, my dc liked: avocado, pears, grated mild cheddar, scrambled egg, flakey white fish or salmon, well cooked pasta (penne is a good shape for finger food), bolognese (minus the salt), cauliflower cheese, buttered toast (minus the hard crusts)….

At six months she can eat anything you eat (except honey, whole nuts, excessive salt and sugar, shellfish or too much tuna) but honestly don’t worry about her nutrition - at her age it’s still all coming from milk. Just give her a wide range of things to try and let her get used to different flavours, textures and temperatures.

Exactly, at this age it’s all about experience the new tastes, textures, discovering that there is something else besides liquid.
I remember that my HV said that when he’s 7m he should have 3 full meals and bottles cut to the minimum - only 3 in a day!
My LO is 6.5m and for us it’s definitely all about the trying things, see how he reacts. Definitely don’t force him or push him to eat just because a book or someone says so.

And just because they don't 'eat' something once doesn't mean they don't like it - keep trying it regularly. There is lots of research about the number of times a child has to try a food before they recognise it as something they like. And unfortunately, they can go off it again very quickly!!

Hi,

I give my daughter home food as much as possible.

Little potatoes ( new potatoes) boiled and mashed with a little butter.

She also likes bananas and bread . Banana custard no sugar.

Chicken

** l do buy the organix melty puffs as they are really good but apart from that everything is what's already at home

I'm also giving her cerelac and full fat yogurt .
