Travel with 4 month old

Sorry if I've posted this in the wrong place but I'm just wondering the best way to travel with my 4 month old. We're off to Spain next month.

Do I take the heavy Nuna Mixx Next pram or invest in a travel buggy? I like the BabyZen Yo-yo but not it's price tag.

Either I'll need to spend extra money as will need to buy a travel bag for the Nuna. My thinking was if I'm spending money then I may aswell spend a little more and buy a travel buggy (we travel a lot as have family abroad).

What would you do? Any advice/tips?

We took DD away to Greece at 4 months and took the main pushchair (mama and papas ocarro) and it was such a pain. We wished we had just taken a small, easy to fold travel buggy.
We have a silvercross buggy now that wasn’t too expensive that we use for trips away

I’ve always taken a travel buggy. So much easier! You can take them with you right upto getting on the plane.

Folds up nice and compact.

@WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy

Thanks! That's the buggy I originally wanted but the sales person at John Lewis said they'd had loads of complaints about it so now DP has his heart set on the YoYo (he does love his prams haha)... I still prefer the price tag of the Silver Cross 🤦🏼‍♀️

Can you the Silver Cross as carry on?

@RussianSpy101

Thank you. I think I'll definitely get a travel buggy. I didn't plan on buying one so soon but it's inevitable so I may aswell just get one now.

Oh really? It’s been fine for us, wonder what people are complaining about. Have never actually taken it as carry on but it folds up quite compact so I reckon you could. We mainly chose it for the fact that it folds up small and for the price tag, just couldn’t justify spending over £500 for something that’s only going to be used occasionally. John Lewis had their own brand one which I think was about £150 which looked reasonable too.

We got the Joie from Mothercare for about £50, for this purpose. It was great for travelling, and I never minded it going in the hold.

I have had a silver cross for travel from 4m and taken it from snow to sand - to US, Maldives, Norway, etc etc. Absolutely loved it and can’t rate it high enough. It can go completely flat so DC used it for naps on beaches too. Get the sun umbrella too.

We have that too. It’s great. It lies flat which is important at that age.

DC used it until she was about 3.5 years old (for travel), so well worth it for us.

Got a second hand version of our main bugaboo from eBay to travel with. Remember, they bash and throw everything around on the plane when loading / offloading so I went for an option that wouldn't leave me livid if damaged. Just as well, the wheel was broken by he 2nd trip!

Yummymummy2020 · 30/08/2021 20:30

We got the iccle bubba I think the brand was and globe the model, it folds tiny and was a good price too!

Dionne31 · 31/08/2021 12:50

What you normally prefer for small 30-60 min trips. Baby carrier or stroller??

I'm not sure which one is perfect. Do you own both or stroller only?

Caspianberg · 31/08/2021 12:58

We were planning to travel with main buggy, and just use sling. But with Covid etc and talk of delays in airports for hours we have bought the yo-yo as it’s the main one accepted as hand luggage. That way I can guarantee somewhere to put Ds straight from plane when it’s late.
We do have a sling as well but I think pram will be better if it’s hot. Will take both.

We have had the yo-yo about 6 weeks now before travel, and we already use a lot at home also. Main still better for days out and walks with large wheels, but the yo-yo handy for compact in car and shopping.

Reclining umbrella buggy ideally with sunshade built in, backpack for baby supplies
