Nurofen/Calpol help!

Hi! My 8 mo LO is poorly at the moment with a raised temperature and stuffy nose, cough etc. We gave him Nurofen last night as we thought it was his teeth and again at 3am. However, we think it's more of a virus rather than teeth as he's not himself today and I think calpol might be better to lower his temperature etc? I know we can't swap between the two 4/6 hours apart like adults can but could we switch to calpol going forwards after giving him Nurofen at 3am? Would calpol be any better than Nurofen or should we just keep up with the Nurofen as it's more or less the same? Thanks!

Calpol and nurofen are 2 different drugs and they can be given at the same time.

Calpol can be given every 4-6 hours, maximum of 4 times in 24 hours.

Nurofen can be given 6-8 hourly, maximum of 3 times in 24 hours.

Give Calpol then if dc is still not right after an hour you can give a dose of nurofen.

You don’t need to lower his temp with medication. Just keep him in cotton, not too many layers and hydrated with milk.

If he’s in a lot of pain then obviously give some pain relief.

Information at the bottom of this webpage about temperatures and alternating between ibuprofen and paracetamol.

Open your windows to allow air to circulate.
I was giving this advise at hospital for my LOs temp.
