Newborn pooping issue/infant dyschezia

Hello mamas,

I am turning to all of you for an advice!

My baby who is now 2 months and 2 weeks has had pooping issues since the birth! HV said that she has infant dyschezia because of the straining and grunting she does all the time. This has changed now, she doesn't grunt as much but now when she needs to poop she screams like crazy and cries instead of pooping.
Please don't judge me, but I have been helping her poop by pressing her legs against her belly and slightly opening her but cheeks. Her poop is normal and everyone keeps saying that this will go away eventually, she does poop by herself during day sometimes!

Has anyone been in a similar situation? I'm desperate and have tried everything- all medicines for gas, warm bath, bicycle legs you name it!

Not much to say other than my baby is 6 months and also (still) suffers from this.
I had also been helping farts and poops by doing a tummy colic massage after every nappy change. It seemed to be the only way to get him to poop.
Now I'm worried I've delayed my DS from figuring it out on his own sooner. At 6ms he still pushes outwards with his abdominal muscles/screams/ writhes around instead of coordinating the push and release/relax that he should be. It's almost like he's waiting for me to hold/massage his tummy as a counter pressure to his abdominal pushing - which is not how pooing should work Confused

My son is 9 weeks old and still strains and grunts during the early hours of the morning and usually poops by himself in the morning. However, he cries whilst pooping until he is finished he is so distressed I get upset. Sorry I can't answer your question but wanted to let you know that I am in a similar ish situation but never tried to help him poop. Maybe if I did he would grunt and strain less and poop sooner...
