Feeding schedules for 10 month old

FTM Here and I'm struggling to know what is the "right" thing to do feeding wise....when I first weaned her at 6 months it was said to feed her her bottle first then try with solids... she has 3 meals a day (small meals) plus 4 bottles of formula she normally has 6-8oz per feed. I'm finding she doesn't have a lot of solids. I give her her bottles before her meals which obviously she's going to be full up on that...is that the normal thing to do? Or do you slowly move towards meals first then bottles after? What are other parents feeding schedules please for your 7 month old?

I usually feed my 6MO son a bottle around 30 mins before breakfast and lunch (not doing dinner yet). I found that when I tried it the other way around he wouldn’t eat at all as he would be so mad that it wasn’t milk. Doing it after milk has meant he’s been more willing to explore the new tastes and textures I’m offering as he’s technically not that hungry. I’d say as your DD gets more interested in the food she’s offered you will probably find she will drop down to 3 bottles/more food ratio. What you are doing with the bottles first is fine, she’ll guide you

With both of mine, I always offered food then milk. Even if they’d just had a ‘meal’ and still seemed hungry I’d offer milk. Weaning my second currently (9 months) and he’s having loads of food and really dropped his milk. He’s breastfed and probably down to around 4/6 feeds in a 24 hr period.
Personally I think the start of weaning, milk then food is fine, but I feel later on as food needs to overtake the milk is when I like to offer food before milk.

My DS3 is 9 months and he has just 2 bottles now (he just stopped taking his middle of the day one a few weeks ago and never wanted it again).
He has 7oz morning then breakfast, lunch and tea and 7oz at bed , with a few snacks in the day (banana, fruit pouch etc)
But I would just go with your DD, as she is getting older now I would probably try food first and she will just ease off the milk herself .

Sorry stupid question...so when you say your littles ones dropped a bottle did you just give it to them the usual time and they just hardly drank any? Or they weren't showing hunger signs so you didn't give it to them?

The goal is three meals per day by 12 months and these portion sizes need to be age appropriate. First steps to nutrition do a book which has portion size guidelines. Most babies are taking around 500mls formula milk by 12 months witth the aim to switch to full fat cows milk at 12 months as a drink. This 500mls can also include other sources of calcium rather than just as milk once baby approaches 1 year old. It might be time to start offering the milk after the solid feed to see if she takes a bit more of the solid food but remember a baby's stomach is around the size of her clenched fist so not very big and alot of parents think their child isn't eating much solid food when in reality they are eating what they need. You can also add several healthy snacks per day too if she'll take them but she won't need them until she's 1 year plus. Presumably she's growing well? As long as her growth is good, she is getting plenty of wet and dirty Nappies, soft stools I would say she is doing fine. My kids were all different (4 DCs). All breastfed and very much on demand. My forth baby weaned efficiently by 12 months on 3 meals daily and snacks etc. My daughter would have taken milk until the cows came home and would refuse solids alot or throw them on the floor in horror! She wasn't taking 3 meals daily by 12 months. They're all different but changing the timing of her milk might help her hunger level and get more solids into her.

Also remember that even with formula babies should feed on demand so if she's not hungry for the extra milk bottle and isn't showing those hunger signs then that feed could be dropped. Most babies are taking about 3 bottles formula by 12 months but the amount varies from baby to baby and depends on their size really too. A 98th centile baby will probably be hungrier than a 9th centile for example

With our first we got a sleep consultant in when things got awful and she gave us a feeding plan which worked v well and we are doing the same with our 2nd:

First thing - milk
8am - breakfast
11 - milk
12 - lunch
3 - milk
5 - dinner
6 - milk.

Then when he turned one we dropped the 2 milk feeds in the day and replaced with a snack and cows milk
