Next to bed crib after 6 months

Hello

Our daughter is 4 months old - she’s currently in a Snuzpod but she’s a long little lady so won’t be in it for too much longer. I don’t want her going into cot in little nursery room at 6 months (currently feel like that anyway!) - only that we had awful first few weeks of silent reflux, she’s on meds now and she’s now a happy little thing and I just feel like I want more time of her being close to me at night.
Know it’s not a rule to move them!

Does anyone have any good recommendations on co-sleeper cribs, or do you just try and fit a normal cot with one side down next to bed?

Thanks
X

We just used a cot with the side removed for our daughter once she outgrew the snuzpod until she was 11/12 months, then moved her into her own room. It was good as before moving her in we put the side back up for a few nights, then moved it further from our bed for a few nights so it felt like a more gradual change for her before going into her own room.

@croft85 We have our little boy in our room in his cot. He’s 9.5months. We used a Snuzpod until about 5m then he was getting far too long for it so we made the switch. We never used it with the side down though - just personal preference. We have his cot with the side on too and have enough space to walk between our bed and his cot.

We also went through the silent reflux issue which then turned into reflux and throwing up milk constantly so I know that struggle 😓 I hope your little one is more comfortable now she’s on her medication 😊 I thought it would never stop but we’re now 9.5m, eating like a champ, no medication and hasn’t been sick in about 2.5m 🙌🏻

If you want to use the cot with side down I think you need to use furniture raisers to make it flush with your mattress, and also ensure there isn't a gap that baby can fall into. Alternatively, leave side up, or co-sleep safely if your bed/mattress allows?

Next2Me have recently brought out a new co-sleeper side cot/bed that does till 4. Can't say how good it is as DD skipped that and came straight into bed with me and is still there at 2.5 Grin but might be an option!

Thanks everyone! Very helpful. Think I will try just cot in the room but that next 2 me big crib looks pretty good too! x

@tiredmama2020 glad you are past the reflux too! It’s heartbreaking and so tough! Doesn’t sound like we suffered as much as you as we managed to get the meds fairly early. Would rather she wasn’t on them but she’s a different baby!

@croft85 It’s so nice when you finally see them content isn’t it?! We managed to get the meds fairly early too but hit various other issues with them making him badly constipated etc the reflux had played havoc with my milk supply - I was having to power pump every 2 hours day and night and bottle feed DS 🙈 and it was all during Xmas/new year with no Face to face appointments so it was a bit of a shit show if I’m honest 🤣 eventually we had to switch to formula and found an anti-reflux formula that worked great for him rather than him being on medication 👍🏻 Just to give you a heads up - everything is read said that weaning baby would improve his reflux. We weaned at 6m doing purées and mashes and the first month was awful. It was like he’d gone straight back to how he was 😓 it wasn’t until we went full BLW that he started improving and he’s doing fab now! Just something to consider when you reach the point of weaning 😊
