Multivitamin overdose??

Hi.

Just found out my Mil has been supplementing my toddler with vitamin D.

I don't think she realised I was giving him a wellbaby liquid daily multivitamin as well which has vitamin d in it.

She has been giving him the standard dose I think in drops, is my toddler going to be ok?

You would think he would be sick etc if he had been having too much right? I don't know if vitamin d overdose is that common, will the extra vitamin d hurt him?

Thanks.

There are maximum levels depending on age. Just add up what they've been having to see if it's over or under that maximum (they will probably be under the maximum level as its a bit more than you might think):

If you choose to take vitamin D supplements, 10 micrograms a day will be enough for most people.

Do not take more than 100 micrograms (4,000 IU) of vitamin D a day as it could be harmful. This applies to adults, including pregnant and breastfeeding women and the elderly, and children aged 11 to 17 years.

Children aged 1 to 10 years should not have more than 50 micrograms (2,000 IU) a day. Infants under 12 months should not have more than 25 micrograms (1,000 IU) a day.

It probably depends long it's been happening as well.

How much has each supliment got in it?
And make sure one of the vit D sources stops immediately.

Wellbaby seems to have 10ug vitamin D so if the other supplement is also 10ug they will be under the maximum

Maybe have a phone appt with your gp? They may be able to give advice on what to look out for if there were side effects, call you in for physical exam and can do tests if necessary.
