Suncream for 6yo at Spainish Water Park?

We are going to Spain in a few weeks time and intend to go to a water park.

I will take an all in one UV suit for him to wear whilst at the water park, but obviously that leaves face, arms, neck, legs, feet open to the strong sun there.

I noticed nivia do an extra water resistant SPF 50+ kids sun cream; but i've never had to worry about sun cream and prolonged water exposure!

What do you folks do about this? Should I just reapply the sun cream every hour (after letting him dry off), and then keep him out of the water another 10 minutes to let it soak in?

Or is hourly excessive? Or not enough?

Thanks

Boots soltan once is great, nivea failed a which? test recently and wasn't as safe as stated on the bottle!

We use P20. It is extremely water resistant. We have also found it doesn't stain clothes so use it for DD at school as it is an all day formula

Maybe try a mineral sunscreen, they are effective immediately.

Yes I also recommend P20. It’s a go to for water sports / sailing people. Expensive but you don’t need a lot so it will last ages.

gmailconfusion2 · 13/08/2021 07:58

We've used p20 since I was 10, very active children, in and out of water all day. We didn't usually towel dry though. Put it on before breakfast and that's it for the day

hopeishere · 13/08/2021 07:59

P20 is fab. So waterproof!!

supersonicginandtonic · 13/08/2021 07:59

P20 horrendously stains clothes. Leaves all white or light coloured things with an oily yellowy stain. Ruined loads of DPs. It is good though.
I would keep reapplying whichever you choose, regularly.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 13/08/2021 08:02

We use an all day one but top it up with regular suncream as it's not 100%. We go for SPF30 over SPF50 as there is little difference in protection but it's less greasy and sinks in better.

NeverMetANiceOne · 13/08/2021 08:02

P20 is brilliant, but you need to let it dry fully before you get dressed.

alohahae · 13/08/2021 08:03

You need a different sun cream than you would use to visit France. It's all in the details.

newmumwithquestions · 13/08/2021 08:04

I don’t rate P20 as it’s only 4 not 5 star protection. I used to do a lot of water sports (sadly not since children). They have managed to make a name for being good for water sports but I never found it that great.

I have used various sun cream and really rate boots soltan. They do a waterproof version that I’ve used on my children out in the water. And a ‘once’ that lasts up to 8 hours.

FelicityPike · 13/08/2021 08:04

Definitely P20!

imacuddler · 13/08/2021 08:09

I wouldn't put p20 anywhere near my child's eyes. It could ruin the day. It's so greasy and once koi get it in your eyes it stings for ages!
Try Ultrasun. You could re apply when having lunch or snacks.
You can also get those stick suntan creams that are coloured and go over the nose and cheeks. I used to get those from boots.

CoffeeAndShortbread · 13/08/2021 12:36

P20! 3 active kids, pop it on first thing all over, allow to dry before dressing and it really works!
