Can anyone advise the best travel toys they've used for 16 month old? Thanks!

Do you mean toys to entertain in the car or compact toys to take on holiday? If the latter stacking cups have a great space to entertainment value.

Stacking cups are great as they double up as water toys and sand castle makers etc!

DS1 really liked vehicles by then so I used to just pack some matchbox cars and wooden trains. I’d gets several from a charity shop and then rotate them for novelty. And some books.

It's for a 2.5 hour plane journey 😀

Absolutely nothing that incudes batteries. Or people will be opening windows and throwing the toy +dc out with it!!

I used to take stacking cups, a couple of cars, a small cuddly toy and some new books. Key is to get something out every 20 minutes or so. To be honest my DS used to like just looking round at everyone, ideally you get a few friendly people who don't mind doing a bit of waving so that fills the time - we had a brilliant flight to Spain once where we ended up with a couple expecting their first baby behind us so were very happy to play and a stag do in front who adopted DS as their mascot! Take plenty of snacks and hope for a nap too.
