Formula advice

Can anyone tell me what formula they find best??
My son was originally on the cow and gate since he was born (hes 4 weeks) was fine had no issues and was drinking up to 3/4oz
Then they changed the formula and it made him act completely different, always unsettled crying etc would find it difficult to sleep.
So I changed his milk to sma yesterday (after talking to HV) but he isn't drinking as much as he use to with the first formula?? Only
Good side is he sleeps much better in the day.
I'm now debating wether to place him onto aptamil and keep him on that but don't want to give him to many changes at once but I also want him to feel comfortable again like he did before where he would drink more.
I know aptamil is the same brand as C&G but I see they haven't updated aptamil so maybe it'll be similar to the first formula he had before the change.
Any advice is really appreciated 🙄x

My baby was on SMA from birth - it constipated her so I tried other brands but ultimately she was better on SMA. I did notice she drank less of SMA as she did the others but I found SMA thicker (was the best one for her reflux because of this).

I’d give it more time to see how he is before changing again!

Mamia (Aldi own brand). Extremely similar to aptamil ingredients and texture wise but half the price

HiPP organic- never had any issues midwives thought DS was breastfeeding due to growth/poos etc. Highly recommend.

Sorry should mention I've not heard great things re Aptimal from other parents.

All formula is nutritionally the same, so there's no 'best'.

Your baby is also still very young and each day they will change. There will be little in the way of consistent behaviour for a while. Some days they will sleep more, some days less. Some days feed more, some days less.

I really recommend a book called your baby week by week for helping you through these early months.

As to which formula to use, choose the cheapest one you can get the easiest. Start there and work up the price range if you need to.

Beware of any milks labelled 'comfort milk' or 'bedtime milk' or 'colic and constipation' they are just marketing and have no proven additional benefit for baby.

Check it your local shop and see what they stock, go with that. You will run out at some point and it's really useful to know you can get the same in the corner shop!

Saying that, it sounds like a baby being a baby and probably not linked to formula. They are so regulated they pretty much have the same ingredients.

Hello!
My daughter has Aldi mamia and is absolutely fine on it. My son (they are twins) is breastfed and he occasionally has a bottle too with no issue.
My eldest had Hipp for 6 months which again was fine however we switched to mamia for the price. Hipp is £11.50 for 800g and Aldi is £6.99 for 900g! He was exactly the same on both!
I always thought Hipp was dear and when I found out I was having twins the thought of having to get potentially double just sent us straight to Aldi!

I don't understand why drinking less is a problem. If your baby is settled on SMA just stay with it. As someone else said all formulas for infants are pretty highly regulated so they are all broadly the same.

We are using cow and gate and have since birth (nearly 6 weeks old,) with no issues
