About video-games....

Hey, all! My 14 year old DS (who suffers from ADHD) has recently become addicted to his video-games. A week or so ago he asked me if I could buy him this video-game he's always wanted, named something like: 'Hearts for Iron IV' or something along those lines. Supposedly the game's a 'real-time strategy' 'map game' as he likes to call it; where you play as different WW2 era generals and presidents. It's pretty interesting and complicated. I bought the video-game for him on his computer and he was really excited to play it.
Fast-forward to now and whenever I call him downstairs for supper he always says he's 'busy' and he 'can't come' which is complete nonsense. He always stays up late and wakes up completely lifeless. Trying to get him to do anything is a chore and a half and I hate it. I miss my old DS. What can I do to get him back? Sad

I was massively into gaming from childhood to just before having my baby. He sounds a lot like me when I was a teen. My parents just let me get on with it, to be honest. I would eventually get bored and move on to something else. War strategy games will be teaching your son some good skills, such as patience and problem solving, so it's not like it's rotting his brain.

Yeah, but it's the only thing he does anymore. Whenever he has the chance he'll be in his room gaming and it's tearing our relationship apart... @Bluejayway91

Is he on any meds for his ADHD?

Shoebillnaenae2 · 07/08/2021 17:25

Nope. I rarely ever go to the doctors for my DS unless it's urgent. Nothin' a bit o' prayer can't help! Grin @BunnyRuddington
