Hi all,
FTM here, we are going on our first getaway together (in the UK) in just over a weeks time for 4 days.
Our LO is 7.5 months old and just want to know how you get around naps/bedtime/feeding when away?
(We did have a good routine with 3 naps a day around the same time but over the past week this has gone abit up in the air with her waking up at 6am instead of 6.30/6.45 like she did before)

We will be spending all day out and about sight seeing/hiking etc how do you work around nap times? Do you just go with the flow and hope lo will just take naps when tired?

Also with food, I feed my lo and have just started introducing finger foods to her, I intend on bringing pouches with me but when it comes to fingers foods do you have any tips on things I can give her whilst out & about? When we've been on picnics I've made her finger sandwiches and bring yogurt etc for her so not sure on things I can buy in shops/restaurants to give her on the go?
we are staying in a b&b so don't have access to a fridge.

She is formula fed so i will feed her pre-made formula cartons whilst we are away as it will be easier.

Any hints & tips on sleep/nap/food would be much appreciated! X

I always tried to keep feed times fairly regular, but with naps hoped they'd just drop off in the buggy or car.

Food wise, take things like bread sticks, rice cakes etc as well as pouches. She can really just have bits of what you're having - torn off but if sandwich, a chip, bit of fruit or veg (raw or cooked), bit of pasta etc

Mine usually just nap in the car or buggy or sling.
Food wise any of the baby snacks for finger food. I just go with the easiest option on holiday.

I let routine slack abit when on holiday.

My LO used to fall asleep fine in the Pram, food wise, pouches and the baby finger foods snacks and we also gave some of what we were having.
Restaurants are good when it comes to babies, I used to order things like a side of veg, pasta dish, meat dish etc and give LO some.

If they sleep fine on the go then you'll be absolutely fine!

It's alot more daunting the first holiday than it actually is!

Hope you have a lovely time

Depends how well your baby naps on the move. If she happy to snooze in the buggy or sling, just go with the flow. Neither of mine napped well on the move though, so while they napped out and about some days, not every day. Otherwise tiredness crept up and they became cranky with exhaustion. So we found it worth making sure they had decent cot or cat naps on at least alternate days to stop overtiredness building up. Both were BLW so food was easy, just took along a lot of lunchboxes with finger foods etc. We found that routine could lapse a bit on holiday but let it slide too far just resulted in grumpy kids. So really does depend how flexible your baby is.

Easy finger foods are

Banana fingers (snap in half, push your finger down the middle and the banana splits into three dry fingers rather than slimy chopped bits)
Melty sticks/puffs/vege tubes
Cheese cubes
Chopped chicken
Yoghurt pouches
Sandwiches
Avocado cubes
Cold pasta
Rice cakes
Breadsticks with cream cheese/hummus dip

In restaurants we just gave titbits off our plate plus some snacks from our bag

We just went with the flow, dc slept in pushchair or car seat as required in restaurants even a jazz club. Never went to bed early. They are now young adults so it didn't do them any harm

gogohm · 06/08/2021 17:24

I fed them either bought stuff or food from our plates, always have a banana for emergency

Thanks all for posting & tips!
On a day out she is normally ok with sleeping in the pram while we're out & about, although we've only done a few long days out with her so far.
So fingers crossed she is ok whilst away!!! 🤞
