Teething

Hi all,

DD is just over 7 months now and it feels like she's been teething forever. Irritable, waking up through the night (maybe early 8 month regression?), biting on everything & gum looks a bit weird - almost as if I can see the tooth beneath the gum & a groove where it looks like it would break through? Hard to describe.

I have been trying to get a picture of it for ages but haven't managed to so if I do I will upload it. Was just wondering how long it takes for a tooth to cut - google is telling me 2-8 days, but I feel like it's been a few weeks now and when I think it's about to come through it doesn't :(

Wondering if anyone happens to have any pics of their LOs gum just before the tooth broke through so I can compare & see if I'm way off. Google isn't giving me much!

Thanks :)

2-8 days seems a little optimistic to me!

What you are describing sounds hopeful, but both mine had several teeth where you could finally see the actual tooth and then the next day they had vanished again!

This was a day before my DD’s first tooth cut. You can see the greyish groove in the gum. She was teething for months and months before it cut (she was just over 1). Once it cut she was much better and I didn’t even notice the next 2 cutting.

@Seeline Honestly I feel like I'm constantly checking her mouth with excitement (FTM can you tell lol). Guess I will just have to watch and wait

@Vicky1989x thanks for sharing the pic, that's almost exactly what my DDs gum is looking like so fingers crossed it will make an appearance soon!

It's hellish the constantly teething stage. I found anbesol on A soft baby toothbrush as a tether really worked well. It numbed the area affecting as the tooth was coming through, the chewed on it where it hurt so got the numbing stuff in exactly the right place and the chewing helped the tooth break through.

Sorry to jump on the thread - I'm a ftm and my little girl is 15 weeks old, she started teething a couple of days ago and she's so uncomfortable with it! Calpol seems to be the only thing that helps at all! She's normally such a happy, smiley and content baby but she's just grumpy and irritable. I'm aware a tooth might not actually come through for months and months though, will she be like this until then?
