Hi

I've just changed nappy of my LO and part of it was jelly like consistency with flecks of blood in it.

He is EBF and is feeding fine, always been a bit fussy and I do bottle feed expressed milk which he hasn't really taken last couple of days. No temperature and otherwise seems fine.

Should I book doctors right away or see if it happens again? Any ideas what it could be?

My LO had this and it was linked to CMPI- she was reacting to dairy in my diet. She was gaining weight really well so didn’t necessarily fit the ‘usual’ symptoms but did develop eczema which is also common. Definitely have a chat to your GP/ HV for advice. My LO has outgrown it now Smile

@thebearandthemare thank you, that's a possibility then as he does vomit quite a bit and always suffered with wind. I'll speak to my GP but did you end up cutting dairy from your diet? Is it common that this has only occurred at 3 months?

Is this a one off or are all nappies like this?

In my own experience my first born had one awful nappy very similar to this and had me totally worried! She was otherwise very well also EBF and it never happened again.

My 2nd however developed CMPA and his nappies were like this and worse. He was also EBF and use to get an intermittent puffy face with a rash and had awful colic. He was also a premie.

I would suggest if your baby is otherwise well just leave it and keep an eye on other nappies, if they continue to be like this then it may be worth going to the Dr about, but hopefully it's just a one off abs nappies will return to normal soon.

DS1 had the same from 12 weeks old and from 5 months was put on neocate formula as even eliminating dairy from my diet didn't seem to help. He was diagnosed CMPA after investigation. I'd definitely go to the Dr's. If we adults suffered the same symptoms it would be definitely accompanied by discomfort and pain.
