Mum exhaustion!

Is annoying else absolutely exhausted? Silly question really as I know the answer but how tiring is parenting?! I have a 7mo LO and he sleeps well at night really so can't complain but I'd LOVE a week off 😂 it's just so draining having to be on the ball all of the time and one step ahead of the game! How can someone so small take up so much of your energy?! Miss my child free weekends in bed or having a relaxed city break etc. Love him to bits but give me strength ha xx

Yes totally exhausted! I don't remember not feeling exhausted anymore. My DS is 3 years in September and I'm a single parent and full time teacher. After the last year of absolutely no help I tried to book him into nursery for one day a week this summer hol. They said they couldn't have him at all not even for one day in six weeks. I love spending time with my son but I could do with a day to myself and another couple to redecorate my house. My family all live 80 miles away but my parents have agreed to come over and babysit for one evening so I can meet up with some friends. I'll make the most of those couple of hours instead. Thanks

Yep!
Im a FTM my LO is 7 months old too and she has only slept through the night a handful of times! Even on the very rare night she has slept through i still wake up numerous times! 🙄
As soon as a regression has passed, teething comes along or a new milestone, or a leap! she has been having bad nights this past week my husband thinks she's is teething again and I'm not sure if she's going through another regression and she has been waking at 6am... its a longggg day of playing til 7.30pm bedtime comes around again 🤣
I laugh at myself when I used to say I was tired before I had a baby haha

@cr17 my 7 month old has just started waking up at 6am too! So you saying is it a regression as made me think ah yes it might be, which kinda makes me feel better because there’s a reason. But these 6am wake ups are killing me 😫 teething as well so nearly 14 hours a day of whinge whinge whinge 😂 it’s not his fault though I know bless him

You get used to it. It can be completely draining sometimes especially when you don't get any down time.
I'm due baby number 6 very soon, I do it alone most of the time as dh is military and away a lot. A sickness bug has been making it's way through the house for over a week, they topple like dominoes. 4th one had it today and was sick in her bunk bed, a nightmare getting up in there to clean it at almost 38wk pregnant with a very big baby bump.

I feel you. My baby is 9 months. And I’m exhausted. I haven’t had a day off since she’s been born! Trying to book a spa day but nothing till October 😫😫

@bleachblondemom im still not sure if its regression or teething? She can be abot moaning during the day too, her naps seem to have gone out the window abit too now, I would normally have to wake her but she seems to now be waking earlier from her naps which is now throwing out the rest of her day and meaning she's having a longer 3rd nap to make up for the lost time shes had on her previous 2 naps 🙈 im not sure if she needs to drop to 2 naps a day?
I have read between 7-9 months they drop to 2 naps a day...

bleachblondemom · 06/08/2021 16:20

@cr17 I’ve just dropped DS to 2 naps a day which works well when he wakes up more like 7-half 7 (which happens sometimes) but from half 6 it’s a bit challenging to do a 13 hour day on 2 naps! But hes getting used to be awake longer, also think we are through the worst of it with this latest teething as hes stopped crying this week!

Cr17 · 06/08/2021 19:52

@bleachblondemom oh good! Im thinking my lo might be ready soon to stop to 2 naps... were going on a staycation in just over a weeks time so I think once we are back from there I might trial out 2 naps a day!
What is your typical day like now on 2 naps?

bleachblondemom · 06/08/2021 20:51

@cr17 you could try it before you go away if you think she can get used to it in time, otherwise wait cos you don’t wanna be messing around with an uncertain schedule when you’re on your hols! Also when you’re away the normal schedule tends to go out the window (I found anyway).
So now when he wakes up, instead of letting him go back to sleep after an hour I keep him awake for 2.5-3 hours. So first nap around half 9 to half 10/11. Then second nap ideally at half 2 if I can distract him enough to stay awake for that long. Sleep til half 3/4 (usually one of his naps is 1 hour and the other nap is 1.5 hours, I don’t mind which way round he does it). Then I aim to start giving him his last bottle at 7pm so that he’s asleep by half past, but it’s ok if he’s 10/15 mins or so late.

Have an 8m old here too. We're in between 2/3 naps so routine changes per day and he's fighting bedtime which he doesn't usually. My husband gets home at 11pm each night so I'm up till midnight so we can actually have a conversation then baby is up at 6am. If he does manage to sleep longer the 4yo usually wakes up early instead 😴. A lay in would be amazing 🤩
