Stopping breastfeeding

Hi

I breastfed my son until he was 18 months, he slept much better once I stopped as he wasn't waking up expecting it. I now have an almost 6month old and I was thinking of stopping breastfeeding now in the hopes she too will start to sleep better. Does anyone have any experience of stopping at around 6 months and did it make a difference to nightime wakeups/could you get them back off just by offering water/patting the back etc. Scared to stop incase makes more unsettled at night

Thanks

No, I stopped at 6 weeks and I’m still going with DD2 who is 2 yrs. At 6 months old the vast majority of babies will need milk over night and bf is so much easier than ff over night.

You could try night weaning and still breastfeeding in the day if you don’t want to stop completely. I started rocking or cuddling my baby back to sleep when he wakes in the night instead of feeding him and now he doesn’t wake for feeds. He’s almost 8 months.
