Didn't know where to put this sorry. I'm not pregnant, but need some advice on whether or not it's possible...

Have 2 DS's. DS1 Just turned 3 was induced 38+6 weeks, straight forward vaginal birth. DS2 6months was transverse/unstable lie (lots of complications with no way of delivering naturally) c section at 38weeks.

DH and I have always wanted 3 or 4 but I fear a Vbac is out of the question or is it? I don't think I could go through another section, I cried through the entire procedure. Blush

Are there any mums out there who have had successful vbacs? Or if it didn't go according to plan and you had to have another c section?

I had a vbac after one emcs. It might be worth googling the nice guidelines on vbac. Ultimately you can’t be forced to have a c section but it can be strongly advised. My Dr wanted me to have an elcs but I held out for a vbac but did have an elcs booked for 39 weeks but DD2 came first.

It will all depend on what the complications were and if they will reoccur but generally speaking women who have had a section are encouraged to have a vbac where possible.

There is a minimum time period suggested between pregnancies after a section.

I'm no sure why you think vbac is out of question. There will be guidelines to consider but as long as all is well it might be possible.
2 natural births, emcs and vbac here.

I had ELCS for dc1 for breech presentation, dc2,3&4 were all VBACs.

Sorry if this is cheeky but how long did you leave between section and having another?

I've been advised 12-18months (which it will be most likely 18month + mark - need to lose the weight still and then may have to go through fertility treatment which has taken a while each time).

@MoominGang

Cousin of DH scared me with her story of having her second, it resulted in an emergency section and her in critical condition.
Another lady at work told me how she had to have surgery after vbac as her scarring had torn.
Then to top it off I read a story of a woman who had a horrific vbac, whilst trying to research it.

So came on here to get some positives.

I wasn’t given any advice on age gaps. There is 21mths between dc1 (ELCS) and dc2 (VBAC). Then 3.5 years then 2.5 years.

I had a very quick, straightforward vbac so it’s all possible. Had to be monitored more carefully and have a line connected, also consultant was alerted as soon as we arrived at the hospital but in the end it’s taken a such a short time that I’ve hardly noticed.

3 yrs and 3 months. Not by choice I had a miscarriage in between (not my first miscarriage) and it took a bit longer conceive. I did have retained placenta afterwards due to the placenta being attached to scar tissue from previous c section.

AntonMeyersNo1Fan · 27/07/2021 20:22

I didn’t say ^ but all 3 vbacs were pretty straightforward (if quick). Dc2 was in bed monitoring which was rubbish, dc3 no time for monitoring, dc4 mobile monitoring. I did tear quite badly with all 3 probably due to speed of pushing stage.

mayblossominapril · 27/07/2021 20:27

I had a VBAC it was straightforward, it was 3 years after my emcs. Ds was too big to exit, dd was a lb lighter and managed it. Was monitored all the way through labour and really well looked after.
I think you’d have a better chance of a successful VBAC as you’ve given birth before.

DC 1 caesarean for breech
After 20 months DC 2 ventouse (epidural failed)
After another 3 years DC 3 home birth nearly in birth pool but too fast!
Get a lovely midwife and antenatal refresher classes would be my advice
