Present for toddler "from" new baby - token or medium size?

Almost 3yo has picked out a dummy for the baby and will wrap it up and save it for when the baby gets home.

Did you do a present for your toddler from the new baby? And if so was it just something token and cheap like some sweets/a little car? Or something bigger to distract/entertain them a bit longer? I have my eye on an articulated bus toy DS has been wanting for some time, but I don't want to overdo it at the same time.

It is very close to DS's birthday as well so he won't be short of new presents/activities but I am a bit torn about how to approach this one.

My dd bought ds a fireman Sam helicopter when she was born.

It was very sweet a few years later when he twigged that it was us that actually bought it! But he still treasures it. I took him to choose a teddy bear for her a few weeks before my due date.

DS1 (just turned 2) bought DD1 a fluffy bunny when she was born...we took him to the shop so he could pick one out. I take it out of her bassinet at night and if I forget to put it back in, he is asking where it is in the morning. DD1 bought him a Brio train for his train track...we wanted something that he could use all the time, something I could play with him whilst sat feeding and that he could keep. We spent about £25 on each or so.

DD1 got a doll from DD2. I think it was about £10.

I would get a proper gift rather than a token. It keeps them busy longer. I would limit it to

Sorry, I don't know what my phone just posted, but it is a very garbled and chopped about version of what was typed, with a whole bit missing!

The missing middle section said I'd put a limit on the spending of

We went medium sized. DS was just 3 when DD was born. He’d got a talking Toy Story Woody doll for his 3rd birthday, and dd “gave” him the Buzz Lightyear that interacted with him. Ds was delighted, thought DD was a genius and had lots to keep himself occupied. Becoming a sibling is a big deal, it’s worth more than a token present.

My toddler (21 months) got a small Gruffalo toy.

My DC3 'gave' DC1 and DC2 each a toy costing around £15.

We gave 2.5 yr old a playmobil police motorbike, he still remembers it was from baby brother and he took it to bed for the few nights after baby was born! This time he is 4.5 and getting a lego fire set (2nd hand) which will keep him very busy which at this age we will need! I think at 2.5-3 something symbolic is enough, was for us anyway. 2.3 year old is getting some manga tiles but would probably get something smaller if it wasn't for big brother!

I got a panda soft toy from my brother when he was born. I was 20 months.
There are photos of me feeding the panda as my brother is being fed, attempting to put a nappy on him as my brother is having a nappy change etc.
I obviously associated the panda with my baby brother in some way.
