When did your baby sleep for longer…

Just out of interest… I know every baby is different but I’m 5 weeks in and I don’t think I could have ever been prepared for the sleep deprivation lol! Newborns are something else Grin just wondering when it got a little easier or should I just prepare myself that this is life for the foreseeable ?

I remember people telling me it would get better at 12 weeks, so I was longing for 12 weeks to come, and it did get a little better, but then it got worse again. Thats sort of how it goes really, it isnt linear at all, you’ll find it gets a bit better, they go a little longer, then it might change and be crap again for a while due to illness/teething/regressions etc etc. Now, at 9 months I would say it’s much much better, but there are still times when DD wakes every hour, but it’s now and again now, rather than every night, so much more manageable. Hang in there. Things do improve slowly, but not necessarily in a straight line.

My little girl is 6 months and she started doing longer stretches at 8 week- 11 until 5.30ish and it gradually got better until it’s 7 till 6.30/7 (unless it’s a heatwave!) I feel your pain, the lack of sleep did me in, it was far worse than I ever imagined! It does get a little worse again around 4 months when their sleep cycles change but hopefully won’t last long. Hang in there, it will get easier x

Mine hates the swaddle if put in it awake or even dozing. Needs to be asleep then it works well.

My daughter didn't sleep through until she was 4. The sleep deprivation goes on for a long time.

10lbs was the tippng point . It could much easier after that. Slightly Prem
baby who was a bleddy nightmare to get weight on.

No idea if you've actually delivered a 10lb plus child on day 1!

Great (as in 6hr+ stretches) from 6-16w. Back to 6hr+ stretches briefly at a year, then gone again. Started sleeping through most nights at 3, had now stopped doing it at just turned 4. Currently back to 2-5 wake ups a night but hoping it's just a blip.

My second, 2hr ish blocks from birth, got worse at about 6m, then varied a lot but usually 4-15 awake ups a night from 6-14m (if lucky if get a 2hr block). Then from about 14-25m it varied from about 2-4 wake ups (usually with a 3-4hr block), and then 26m a switch was flipped about 90% of the time sleeps straight 12hrs. Not sure how long it will last but currently enjoying it.

It's a long road for us with lots of twists

My 11 month old usually wakes every 2-3 hours then last week every 30 mins but he does have teeth coming through and is starting to walk so assuming it’s as he has a lot going on!

As you can probably see from all the responses it varies massively and is down to each individual baby there is no set time x

My first only slept 90 minutes at a time and screamed inconsolably in between and in the evenings at that age. She had reflux too so I had to keep her upright after feeds.
She got a little bit better after 3 months when the reflux improved but I still didn't get much sleep. She got much better from 6 months when she went into her own room and was sleeping 12 hours through the night by 11 months.

My second slept great from birth. One 8 hour stretch overnight with no crying, she sleeps 10 hours some nights at 2 months.

I did nothing differently.
