Teething hell

DD is 9 months old and think she's teething. Really irritable, drooling loads, won't eat, won't sleep, a fever and I can see a small slit in her gums.

I'm really worried as she's CONSTANTLY crying non stop. She normally never cries

Did anyone else experience this? I thought maybe ear infection but she doesn't seem to be pulling at her ear.

I'm hoping these bloody teeth come through ASAP as I can't handle another day like this Sad

It could still be a ear infection.

Nurofen and anbesol liquid used together are the beat for teething pain.

@Pissinthepottyplease how can I tell if it's an ear infection? We've tried gently rubbing the skin around and under her ear in circular motions but doesn't seem to bother her

Yeah we're doing anbesol and ibuprofen which is helping but when it wears off she won't stop screaming and crying

Is it her first tooth? My DD was AWFUL with her first tooth but once it cut she was better and I didn’t even notice the next 2 coming through.

Anbesol liquid, cold teething toys and alternating Calpol and nurofen worked best for my DD IMO.

You can’t but check the the nhs website I think you don’t need to see a doctor until day 3 or 5 with a suspected ear infection anyway.

Hi OP, this sounds exactly like my DD when she is teething! I second the PP a who suggested ambesol liquid, it does seem to take the edge off- it my limited experience teething just seems to be one of those things you just sort of have to survive!

DD cut 3 teeth in 48 hours recently- that was a fun weekend 🙃 so you have my every sympathy!

shoesplash · 21/07/2021 14:04

Ps- I see you are using the ambesol, the Nelsons teething powders are good too- we had some success with DS a few years ago using them

idontlikealdi · 21/07/2021 14:56

Calpol and nurofen piggybacked.

SassyPants87 · 21/07/2021 19:47

@Vicky1989x yes it's her first tooth! I've heard the first is always the worst in so hoping this is true! Second day of this and I am STRUGGLING! forced hubby to take a day off work to help me out

Ambesol liquid and then alternating ibuprofen and calpol if needed. Sometimes teething is quick, sometimes it's drawn out, but yes it's horrible. After it took out little one 8 weeks (solid, not on and off) to get 6 teeth out, the merest thought if teething gives me the shivers.

And I don't know if you want honesty or just support here (if just support stop reading now...)

The later teeth are by far the worst. They have a huge surface area to break through. Use these early teeth (as bad as they are) to get into your teething rythmn for the molars and canines that you get just after a year.

Yeah first tooth is the worse Our DD cried for about 4 days 😥

Cucumber is good as it's cooling and naturally anti inflammatory.

There's not much you can do really op just grit your teeth and it will pass as quickly as it came and it's actually quite cool to see a brand new tooth where there wasn't one before !

Our DD is 2.5 and had all of her teeth - really only the first one and maybe the molars bothered her

I feel your pain! my DD is nearly 4 months and teething! Won't sleep and cry's so much when she very rarely crys! Iv been using Ashtons & Parsons teething powder which seems to help and frozen teething ring which helps and also cools her down!
