3 year old no erections?

A bit of an odd one sorry. After a friend was laughing that her new baby has constant erections (often before weeing on her!) I realised I don't think I've ever seen my three year old or indeed my 8 month old with an erection. Obviously who knows what might be happening down there throughout the day but it does strike me as odd. Something to be concerned about? Can't face the GP. Given neither of my boys do maybe it's okay Blush

Both scenarios are normal. No need to see a gp about it.

Mumvschildren · 20/07/2021 21:16

I have 4 boys
One used to have erections a lot-it normally meant ‘duck for cover or get sprayed’
The other 3 never really did-maybe the odd one as babies but nothing I really noticed
I wouldn’t worry-it’s normal for them

I'm actually really glad you posted this @Foreverbaffled, this has been a concern of mine and my husbands too.
My 2.5yr old I think I've only seen once, same with one of my 1.5yr old twins, the other twin never.
Thanks to @fairgame84 and @Mumvschildren for the reassurance too

Thanks @fairgame84 and @Mumvschildren that's so reassuring.

@mumjustmum I'm sorry it's worried you a bit too. To be honest it would be unlikely that all our children had some underlying issue so assume it just varies a lot between children. Now he isn't in nappies I don't see that area much apart from bath time. He hasn't "found" it yet so maybe that is part of it too. Gah children are such a bloody worry aren't they.

2 sons here and I’ve never seen one either. Am quite glad really!

EmRata95 · 20/07/2021 21:26

I remember getting a massive shock one day when Changing DS nappy and he had one! I genuinely had no idea babies could get them

sociallydistained · 20/07/2021 21:26

Nanny whose helper raised many many boys. Currently have 4 ranging from 3- teens who I’ve had since babies and I’ve never seen one (I do the majority of nappies and baths so if it was super normal I guess I would have?) it’s a thing but not a every boy thing.

Foreverbaffled · 20/07/2021 21:32

Thanks so much @Ilikecheeseontoast, @EmRata95 and @sociallydistained you've all totally put my mind at rest. I'll count myself lucky instead Grin

Could be when he's asleep and you're not seeing it.

roses2 · 20/07/2021 21:44

My two are 5 and 8. They both have one every morning when they wake up. Theb5 year old likes to show it to me every morning! I think they've been like this since babies.

Absolutely could be. Anything could be happening down there I guess Confused

I have to admit I was quite shocked when my DS had them as a baby. For some random reason, I didn't think it would be possible until puberty. Blush

MattyGroves · 20/07/2021 21:48

My 4 year old occasionally announces "ooh, that made my Willy fat"

I have absolutely no idea what to say in response

ChocolateFlamingo · 20/07/2021 22:51

I never knew baby's could get them before I had my DS.
He had them every now and again. All boys are different though, I wouldn't see it being a problem either way

Mine shall stay a baby forever! Bad enough getting them, but I cannot bear the thought of him narrating them 😫
