Potty training while out and about...

My DD is 2.5, and will run to the potty for pees on her own. But only while at home, and she doesn’t have pants/ nappy on. She usually pees in pants. However, the last couple of days she is realising that she needs to use the potty while wearing pants too.
I have plans to go out this week and really don’t know if I should put pants on her for going out the house... or just stick a pull up on (knowing that she will pee in it). Or cancel plans and stay at home to practice with pants?

What have others done?

I am in no rush to potty train, but she is showing a good understanding. And I don’t want to hinder things because I’m too nervous.
Thanks!

I think you need to commit one way or the other, she sounds ready for sure, but if you’re going to do it, do it! I wouldn’t start with a weekend out of the house though. We have a potty we bring in the car & sometimes DD has to pee on the grass! Also lots of spare clothes.

Could you do a longish dress with no underwear so she's decent but doesn't have the feel of Knickers?

Plan your visit knowing where the loos will be!

We did trousers, no pants. And took a travel potty with us everywhere

Go commando, do pre-emptive potty visits. Don't put her back in nappies, she is clearly ready & just needs the commitment from you - either stay at home, or be very focused on thinking about when she last went to the toilet etc.

Thanks for the quick replies everyone! Sounds like I need to take the step of going out without nappies! 🙈 yes, she could wear a dress, which will make things easier.
