Hi I am wanting advice / book recommendations for toddler parenting books for young toddlers (22 month) - I feel like I’m doing a rubbish job! The constant meltdowns for even the smallest amount thing like this morning putting on his shorts to go to nursery. He is such a good boy but then flips! I have been thinking of buying jo frost.
I’m quite upset at the minute as when we do anything as a family my little boy just wants my husband and shouts no mummy it makes going out as a family rubbish. When it’s just the two of us (me and my little boy) we have a lovely time. Any advice?

Please don’t buy Jo Forst. Even Jo Forst doesn’t follow her own advice since she has children. How to talk so little children listen is good. At 22 months distraction is the beat method “Jake I know your sad about getting dressed. Oh look let’s read your Hey Duggee book”. False choice is also good so give him the choice of which shorts to put on.

Same here! It's a leap - my daughter can't stand her dad at the moment even though he is the most fun and caring parent! This leap is all about independence but brings in quite a lot of emotional turmoil.

The illusion of choice is working with us. So it's "do you want to brush your teeth in the bath or out of the bath?" Or "will you wear the blue shorts or the green shorts"? Everything is taking a million times longer but it gives them the independence whilst eventually getting ready job done.

Keep strong and consistent xx
