Car toys for 18m

Hi - we've got a 5-6 hour car journey to our UK holiday later this month, with our 18m old. Any bright ideas for car entertainment for him? Hoping he'll nap for a couple of hours, but that still leaves a fair bit if time to fill. He loves things to fiddle with right now (loves his PopIt) and buttons that do things, but I could really do with some specific ideas! Also ideas to stop toys/drink bottles/snacks being deposited down between his seat and the door. He's rear facing.

Thanks.

I wouldn’t give snacks in a car seat. If he chokes you won’t be able to deal with it quickly.

Stickers are are good.

Bear in mind that anything hard would become a projectile in a crash so no loose water bottles/tablets etc. We've had lots of success with audiobooks on long journeys.

You'll be sitting right next to him I assume?

Bit boring for you but I'd have nursery rhymes/little kid music on repeat and singalong with him and get him to follow all your hand gestures.

I'm a bit at a loss here... Sorry I asked. I appreciate the reminder about choking risk from snacks, but I now feel like a bad mum for even daring to think about toys in the car.

Sorry I had to giggle a bit at projectiles in a crash. That really does restrict what you have in the car. We had a little steering wheel with lights and other bits on.

OP don't feel at a loss. I don't think most people super glue all their belongings down 'incase of a crash', ofcourse you're going to need drinks on a 5-6 hour journey.

We went on a long journey recently and my son slept for three of the four hours luckily. We have a lot of fidget toys like a spinner and this thing where you poke the bubbles from one side to another. If someone is sat next to him then he will probably be good with chatting and asking what things are?

Also, I let my son have snacks in his car seat anywhere that has a hard shoulder. You're not the only one.
