Newborn constipated- very worried mum!!

Has anyone had a constipated newborn? She's 8/9 days old and has been regular since birth, she's formula fed and was going 2-3 times a day and it was the normal mustard colour! The past 2 days she's only gone once and seems to be in pain! Very unsettled and clingy, kicking her legs and straining but unable to go!
What can I do? We've been discharged from our community midwives and my gp is pretty useless when it comes to getting an appointment!!
I'm almost certain it's not her formula she's not being sick, wet nappies and is drinking her usual 3oz every 4 hours and is showing none of the usual symptoms of it being the formula.
Is it normal for a newborn not to poop regularly?
I've read they can go up to 5 days before a doctor gets concerned and will be worried about them? Anyone else's little ones not go everyday??? Sad
I've given a dose of infacacol incase it was trapped wind but she's been winding and burping fine! ConfusedConfused

I know this will sound crackers but when my DD was a little teeny baby I used to lie her flat on my knees face up (head closest to my knees) and cycle her legs in a bike motion, also giving her lower tummy a gentle massage.

Have a look on YouTube for massages to make baby poo.

I swear it used to work!

Have you tried to get an appointment with your GP for your baby? I have to wait 4 weeks to see my GP but my kids are always seen on the day. They should certainly be giving you an emergency appointment for a new born.

@username723 Completely agree with @Eeiliethya - bicycle legs is a game changer! And gentle tummy massage too.

My boy didn’t poo for 12 days. GP sent us to hospital. Consultant was cross as it is fine for babies not to poo for 14 days. Our baby pooed the next day.

Thank you everyone! We tried the bicycle legs and she released a little bit and it was enough to get her to relax so a very tired mummy could get some sleep! I've spent all morning on the phone to the gp receptionist and I'm booked in for a telephone appointment at some point today!
Thank you all! Smile

Sometimes a bath helps too and the cycling legs. There is some baby massage techniques that can help too, speak with your health visitor?

It’s normal after the new born stage for a bf baby but this baby is ff.

Thank you, I don't have a health visitor at the moment as I haven't been assigned one, I've phoned my community midwives as the gp decided to tell me she wasn't on the system and won't be for at least 10 days!! I'm awaiting a call either today or tomorrow from a midwife!
