I have motherease wraps, which work great on my 6month old, but when I use them on my 2yr old they leak through the middle not the edges iyswim (different size for both)I didn't buy them new, but theyre not very old, can anyone sugest anything to make them work again, or do I need to go back to dispossables until hes potty trained? only started using clothies after got the hang of it with my littlest (around a month ago) but this is a reacuring problem, and hubbie says if he finds another wet patch on the sofa hes throwing them away! HELP!!! (please)

If the wraps weren't new to you, then they're probably past their best if they're leaking. I would try soaking in fabric conditioner, and drying in a tumble drier. Both of which are reputed to help 'dying' ME wraps.

Possibly also try boosters in the nappy, so that section of the nappy doesn't get so wet?

Thanks will try that, I do boost quite abit, but doesn't seem to make much difference.

I would agree with trying to seal them again. It is dodgy wraps rather than a cloth problem iyswim

do you think they are the best wraps if I need to buy some more? I need something tricky for my ds to undo! is the fabric conditoner, tumble dry the best way to re seal? sorry so many questions, but compleate novice! lol

That is the only way I know, but I haven't tried it myself.

They are the most reliable wraps out there usually

CarGirl · 25/11/2007 13:50

I think if the previous owner washed them at high temperatures or dried them on the radiators they may have aged prematurely! They really are very reliable usually - even when 4th hand and well used!

Thanks, there should be a mn hand book on nappies etc would be much easier for us novice mums!

I started writing a Cloth Nappies for Dummies kind of thing a while back, but life got in the way

Really should try again...

I'd definatly buy it, have only just mastered what works for ds 5 after 5months! so thought i'd be brave and try on ds4 but he's a compleatly different kettle of fish!

I keep seeing this thread and thinking it's a question about fajitas.

I had a similar prob with ours on 2yr old DS1, turned out to be because his popper vests were too small and were affecting the wrap's fit

137wallis · 25/11/2007 14:37

ahh never thought of that! will try them without as well and see!

Also, is the wrap plenty big enough? Don't be afraid to have ME wraps that are too big. I've never had leakage problems because of size - DS2 has been in XL wraps in rotation because I can't be bothered to properly sort them out (DS1 had XL wraps, and DS2 was meant to have M wraps!). He's only 18m now, and has probably been wearing L or XL since 12m.

Wraps can look fine, and be damaged, or vice versa. Some of my tatty ones work really well, and I have one dodgy one, which I never remember to get rid of!
