To the super organised parents - send me your travel lists (toddler + newborn)

We're driving to Germany on Thursday and staying for 4-5 weeks for my parents to see the kids (and us) after what feels like forever (8 months) but since last time, we've had a new addition - he's 10 weeks and the best little man. His older brother is 2 1/2.

Has anyone who is really organised got a list handy as to what to take?

I know some mumsnetters are strictly against travel but my family and I will benefit from being there. Quarantine and tests will all be done before / after etc.

It depends on a lot, like whether you breastfeed, express or formula feed. It also depends on what equipment will be over there already, like high chair and cot. And what type of activities you’ll be doing.

Nappy bags
Nappies (and pull-ups?)
Changing mat
Wipes
Muslins
Potty
Thermometer
Calpol
Sudocrem
Plasters
Toddler sun lotion, shampoo and body wash
Adapter plugs
Toddler toothpaste and brush
Night light
Baby monitor
Portable black out blind
Blinds for the car
Toddler cutlery, beaker and water bottle
Snack pots

Make a list of anything you need like nappies or baby stuff that your parents can go and buy locally at local boots equivalent ready for your arrival.

For 10 week old I would take baby bouncer ( or order cheap one off Amazon.de to be delivered to your parents) so you have somewhere to put them down easily.

Tbh if your staying with parents only pack clothing for a week max as you can wash stuff as you go.

For the toddler I would get a few new little toys he hasn’t seen before and whip one out every couple of hours to keep him occupied. Alternate with snacks.

Will your parents have cot, steriliser if required etc? Are you stopping enroute? Are you doing the over night ferry?

I have two, and when they were little I broke down my packing lists into stages of travel.

Germany sells everything you’d need in the event you forgot things, so I’d just concentrate on the journey. Snacks are my key…loads of boring things like breadsticks, raisins etc. Audible is good for stories for entertainment. And some new stuff like little toys etc.
