My degree is in Journalism, but there is a minor module in psychology.. so ideally I would combine them both & show what I know about psychology.

Though I have absolutely no ideas where to start or what to do.... [eeek]

I have to see my studies advisor soon so I need to have some ideas..

If Edam or the like are reading, do you have any suggestions on what would be a doable topic???

Thanks

Anyone?

I was thinking of elaborating on a colour piece I did before, on loneliness & the help/effect the internet can have.

I chose 3 people who were at home all day with their children & were isolated from their peers. (living in remote places) & wrote an article on how they depend on the internet for everything, from shopping, to reading online papers, to socialising in a virtual disco room...

Or has this all been done to death??

My DH did his on propaganda - loads you could talk about there - the psycology would fit in nicely with that subject too.

You could do a piece on how psychological studies are often misused by the press.

The influence of journalism (and information propagation in general) on people, suspending their ability for independant thought and judgement. How people depend on what they're told/read in the papers/see on TV, by 'experts', rahter than accumulated wisdom and experience.

The MN community shares accumulated wisdom and experience, as, I suppose, earlier generations might have done by virtue of a different, less dispersed, way of life.

I'm thinking of things like 'official advice' on how to prepare formula, breastfeed, wean, and avoid cot-death (though of course those are merely subjects close to my heart ATM, I'm sure there are others too).

Often this advice is presented for the lowest common denominator: the simplest advice applicable to the most people. The result being that people are brainwashed into thinking that everything is black-and-white, rather than assessing their individual situations, comparing similar situations and drawing their own conclusions.

Thanks JJ & DS.. prettycandles, you bloody well could have something there!!!!!!!

propoganda also.. why have I brain block today??

And they would both use psychology as well

Thanks ever so much Has really given me some food for thought on a day where all I could draw were complete blanks!

I'll let you know what I finally decide on.

Good luck with it!!

Don't do what I did and think "oh the deadline is April - thats AGES away" and end up writing the whole thing the WEEK before it's due (yes - silly me!)
