3 months old: would this worry you?

DD is 3 months old. she has had a little cough for about a week, took her to the gp who said it was nothing to worry about. now the past 2 days she has also been boiling hot, i feel like i could cook an egg on her! it’s her head and torso that feels hot. temperature is about 37.4 which is normal from what i’ve read. earlier on she also had green poo which was foamy/frothy.

does that sound like normal baby things?

No. Is she unsettled? I would definitely call the doctor again. She may have a virus. Frothy poo is most certainly not normal

All of those in isolation are normal things. Together I’d keep an eye on them (especially the temperature) but not be panicking, particularly if you’ve already seen the GP. Could you book another GP appointment in a couple of days and cancel it if symptoms improve? That way you have something on the books to help manage your anxiety about DD. I’d of course seek help sooner if she started being lethargic, hard to wake, glassy eyed, or if the cough worsens and she’s wheezing with it or seeming short of breath.

Are you breastfeeding? Sometimes excess foremilk can cause green, frothy poops (and gassiness). If so, try starting each feed with the breast you last fed on, or pump a bit before a feed so that she’s getting fattier milk in her diet for a couple of days and the poops should go back to normal. If formula fed, have you changed brands recently?

yeah i’m breastfeeding and read that too but tbh she does pretty long feeds like 15-20 minutes at a time so i’d be surprised if she’s not getting hindmilk. yeah i think i’ll have to speak to the gp again, just not entirely sure i trust the one i saw before as she also advised putting baby to sleep with a pillow under her head to relieve her stuffy nose Hmm

I do not think all these things together are normal. Green frothy poo is not the norm even if breast feeding. I can happen yes but it isn't the norm. Plus the cough. I don't think OP is being anxious at all. Just ring GP or ring 101 right now if worried.

Was her covid test negative?
When did she have the rotavirus vaccine?
