Potty training poos

My daughter is 3.5 years old. Since my eldest was late to train I haven’t rushed things and kept thinking I’ll take things at her pace. When we put her in pants she got the hang of going to the toilet for a pee straight away. Poos is another matter. She just does it in her pants. She’ll even walk about after and not tell you. I’ve tried speaking to her about it, catching her before she needs (sitting her on the potty - she doesn’t do anything) then when she needs she disappears and does it in her pants. What can I do to help her? Anyone been in this situation with toilet training? Help!

Been there and just out the other side. The free nhs Poo goes to pooland app literally did wanders over night . She loved doing the actions on phone and now flushing to poo land with a excited byeeeee every time .

Cont - tried from 3 and was the same as your daughter. 3.5 did the app and we haven’t had accident since. We also take her toilet seat/travel potty everywhere and that stopped her feeling like going to fall while opening bowels and a bit more control to her

I'm in a similar situation with my ds, although he is a bit younger at 2.9. He's steadily getting there with wees but he still hides to do a poo and won't say after he's done it. He actually likes to lay on his stomach to poo in his nappy. I really don't know why he does that, just more comfy for him I guess. We've never made a big deal of him hiding or not telling us as don't want to make it worse. I'm just hoping it's a developmental thing and he's just not ready for independent no. 2s yet. Trying to encourage him though all the same.
@Honeydukesmum I think I'll check out that app too. Sounds good.

Will definitely check out the app thanks. Yes difficult to know what to do. With so many bits of being a mum your instinct kicks in but with toilet training it feels like a real mystery at times

I'm
Going through the same thing my sons 3 in oct. he will not go for a poo he will hold it in for days till it turns to diarheah! From 8am to bedtime he will continuously tell me he needs a poo but runs away from the potty when he feels it coming and lays down to stop it coming. I'm at a loss and it's exhausting:(

Exactly the same with my 3 year old OP! So just letting you know you're not alone and watching with interest.

I bought this book for my son, who was a nightmare for pooing his pants. He wasn’t a bit bothered about the Pooland app unfortunately but this seemed to make sense to him. Good luck op, she will crack it at some point.

I started giving smarties for a poo on the potty/toilet. She literally hasn’t pood her pants since!! (It’s only been about 2 weeks but before that I’d say it was 3-4 times a week she was pooing in her pants.) I knew she could do it (as she sometimes did) but was choosing not to and just needed motivation to do the right thing. I guess this wouldn’t work if the child is scared of the potty or doesn’t know what she’s supposed to do (though hiding suggests she does…)
