Very active baby

Hi,
Does anyone else have/had a very active baby? My LO is just shy of 5 months and has always been very active. His legs and arms are in the constant move. It’s like he has some extra energy levels.
Apart from the first days in hospital he hated being swaddled. He always needed his arms out. He hates his Moses basket because again there were no room for his arms to stretch. He never liked any sleeping bag because it restricted his legs and it would end up in crying.
When he is in his pushchair he’s constantly lifting his legs up, kicking off the cover or any blanket, his little fingers always holding the edge of the pushchair cover.
There is no way I can put him on the bed and lay next to him, cuddle, have a chat - his arms are always in the move, his wriggling everywhere and I’m risking getting punched in the face.
When his on his play mat on the floor,he’s grabbing the toys and yanking then with such a force sometimes I think he will just break everything one day. And we always have to put dou Nappy changes are another thing - he liked to smash his legs and heels so hard against the changing mat that you can hear it from the other room. Even when we hold him upright over the shoulder which is his favourite position the one arm almost never stops moving.
Generally he’s quite happy baby, he’s not crying much unless it’s emergency, he’s whining like every other baby but apart from that he’s fine.
He doesn’t seem to be on any kind of discomfort or pain just active. Too active. Every day me and my partner tell him “Can you just calm down a little bit”. Obviously that doesn’t help much for a 5 month old it’s more for our sanity.
Every day I’m hoping that he will get older and it he will calm down a bit because it’s so exhausting, it’s like he’s still only when sleeping.
Does anyone have a similar experience and can assure me “this too shall pass”. I’m really dreading the time when he’s gonna start crawling and moving around.

And when he’s on the floor we always have to put double blanket under his legs because he’s moving them and smashing down with such a force.

@Eri21 how are you getting on now?? Mines the same.. solidarity!

We have a 7 month old here who sounds the exact same (aside from the Moses basket bit - he still loves it for short naps!), he’s so full of energy & never stops moving except when he’s sleeping, even having a bottle he has one arm on the go, or in his car seat one of his legs will be going

Would love to hear from anyone else with a baby like this at similar age if it changed at all with time?

Oh the update is pretty much the same - he’s 10.5 months now and honestly he cannot sit still! He always need to grab something, touch everything, when you hold him on the lap he wants to get up. Once he’s up the next second he’s turning around and going back down. Every little sound - toilet flush, boiling kettle, he needs to see and hear everything like it’s the first time ever! His head is constantly moving and seems that he needs to touch all world at the same time!
It’s exhausting to be honest!
I’m not sure if all babies are this active and curious but oh my….

My son is the same. Only still when he is asleep. Otherwise constantly on the move exploring the world, and at 10months can already climb onto the sofa. The whole world needs to be examined and he is very busy doing this all day, no cupboard or draw left untouched, all radiator valves and plug sockets, every lead and speck of dust on the floor etc- all need to be observed and checked. He is very inquisitive. And yes it is exhausting!

Our dd was like this and now at almost three is still like this lol literally does not stop. Ever. But she is very fun and will try most things so there are positives. It is exhausting though. We took her to baby yoga and she had just learnt to roll over - she was rolling everywhere lol 😂

You kind of just have to accept their nature for what it is really.

On the plus side she tired herself out every day and has always slept 11 plus hours from 9 months ish onwards.

I have 3 ds , all older but youngest is only 4 and they were all like that and are still very , very physical. Now though they do various sports, they are extremely fit and almost never ill as I guess like adults loads of exercise can boost immunity and they eat everything. So although it can be challenging there are loads of ways they can use this as a positive when older. I found the toddler years tough going as it was constant but in the flip side me and my DH are the fittest we've ever been running around after them!

My now 7 year old is the same!!!

So much energy I don't know how he's awake 12 hours (but thank god sleeps 12 still!!)

Our daughter is nearly 11 months old and she's the same. The first day of been born, her arms and legs were moving and they've never really stopped!

She's now going through a destructive phase were everything has to be thrown, bashed and babbled at Xmas Grin

My 7m old DS is the same, just won’t sit still! He has been crawling for a couple of months now and has just learned to pull himself up to standing which he tries to do at every opportunity - we really do have to watch him like a hawk or he tries to stand up and bumps his head on something, it is exhausting!! 😖

I meet up with my friends and all their babies will lay / sit nicely playing with toys while mine is tearing round the room looking for anything he can get his hands on that he’s not supposed to have 😂

It’s great to find this thread and know we’re not alone!

Any updates of your toddler? A bit late for this post but going through the same thing with my 4 month old!! He is sooo active. Constantly kicking, constantly wanting to grab everything, constantly looking around. Every sound he has to look at what it is. He doesn't like to be held like a "baby" but rather be sat up otherwise he screams. Loves to stand and sit and when he's sat on my leg with his legs dangling down, it's asif he's trying to get off already and run towards something when he doesn't even know how. He just wriggled and squirms and is soo energetic and active. I always tell my family how I'm going to have to end up running after him, the way he acts already shows that. It's like hes dancing at times because of the way he moves his body when hes sat or stood with full support of course, but it's hard to hold him sometimes!!

@Rxy99 my baby is now two and she's still energetic but just so much fun and so so so curious. I hated the newborn days but they made for a great happy and active (in a good way) toddler so hang in there. Things got better when she could sit up
