Puberty book which doesn’t teach that you can change sex?

My son is 9 and I’d like to buy him a book on puberty. I’ve looked on Amazon but it’s hard to tell which books don’t have a chapter on gender identity. My personal belief is that sex is binary and immutable, I don’t want to expose my son to the idea that’s not true.

Does anyone have a book they can recommend for this age range?

“ All the OP wants to do is ensure her child is told the facts, not some alternative ideology. Most children, luckily, grow up to believe in the truth.”

Do they? I have no strong opinion on the matter, but a 2020 yougov survey suggested that 57% of brits supported for self-ID. No doubt that was much higher among young people.

For that age, Guy Stuff: the body book for boys is pretty solid, it's American though it doesn't come out much but I think it covers things pretty well. It covers social expectations on boys too and how feelings on them change over puberty which I like, but it's entirely a puberty book rather than puberty and sex-ed book.

Ushbourne's Growing Up Boys is also good, though maybe in a few years as it does discuss drugs and older content. My 2013 copy does briefly define transgender (and transvestite), but doesn't give the idea that people can change sex, just that some "want to be another sex and have surgeries and take hormones to change their bodies". I think with Y7+ child, it's a good basic one paragraph definition and can be part of discussing things if/when it comes up in school. I've had so many conversations about the different ways of viewing gender, gender identity, and gender dysphoria with mine and having a book that defines it that simply has helped.
