Toddler resisting stroller

My DS at 18months has become a real challenge to sit in the stroller. I have tried the reigns but stroller more suitable for me when I shop. It also convenient to get him to sleep etc as well. The other day I had to force him into it and quickly harness him up as he was screaming. It's a real pain and it's become a regular tantrum.

You are the boss in this situation. Strap him in and ignore the screams.

Ozanj · 24/06/2021 15:13

DS is the same. I just ignore it. He calms down as doon as he’s strapped in

Topjoe19 · 24/06/2021 18:33

I agree with PPs to just strap him in if you need to. I've got a little trike which my 19 month old goes in too, I find she doesn't protest as much... could you try something like that perhaps? (Although the basket bit is tiny if you need to carry shopping/bits n bobs)

As others, he'll soon give up on the tantrums.
Keep going op 💪🏽

Bribery

Welcome to free will!

Perfectly normal

You either let them toddle and make life harder, or you force them into the buggy like you would with the car seat.

Trust me, as soon as you get rid of the pushchair, they will suddenly want to sit in it all the time

MCB7 · 24/06/2021 18:41

The dummy used to work a treat but that phase is gone. It's just annoying generally in public as he is kicking and screaming but I'll take all suggestions on board

As PP said a trike works great. My DH will even take it around the shops as he says it’s no different to a pram.

Or Pom bears work to strap him into the pram and once he’s in, he’s fine

MCB7 · 25/06/2021 12:36

Does many posters on here let their toddler use the dummy while in buggy?

If it was either that or screeching for hours then I did with dd (ds wouldn’t take one but he sucked his blanket)

If they would stop crying after a little while, then I would stand firm and have dummies for sleeping

Deadringer · 25/06/2021 12:47

Bribery, if that doesn't work, ignore

FizzingWhizzbee123 · 25/06/2021 13:27

Snacks….

It doesn't matter how many. You do what works for you and your child
SleepingStandingUp · 25/06/2021 14:12

I put them in and out my arm between their legs (so they can't slide out) and then pass them a toy / drink / snack and as they relax quickly put the straps on.
