When did silent reflux improve a bit for your baby?

Just wondering when people saw some improvements with silent reflux. My baby is 6 weeks old, we started omeprazole 2 days ago. No effect noticed yet.

He can't lay on his back for long. When asleep in this position he wakes after 20 minutes. So my husband and I take turns to hold him on his belly on your chests. It's absolutely exhausting. My husband has a stressful job and I have to look after my 2 year old so we can't take naps in the day.

This feels extremely hard and I'm looking for a bit of hope this might get better sooner rather than later.

Hi OP. The omeprezol helped but it took a while to kick in. I think my DS was around 4 months before things started to get better and they were almost gone when we started solids (started these early around 20 weeks on advice of GP). Can you put the crib at an angle so you can lay baby down? We had to hold DS in our arms for about 20/30 minutes after each feed but we could put him down then as long as the crib was raised at one end.
The thing we found that helped the most was a dummy/soother. The sucking helps keep the acid down.

About 4 or 5 months when she could sit up more. A bumbo chair was a lifesaver

Around 7 months for us. It was an incredibly tough time- the bad sleep habits baby had for not being able to sleep have continued into adulthood.

Toddlerhood* (massively sleep deprived).

When my little one was younger - I was prescribed a thickener called “Thick n Easy” which I added to his milk which helped a lot with his silent reflux.

Is there any chance you may be able to get some?

It was ranitidine that worked for us (I know you can't get it now), that was the step change at about 8 weeks. Then things started to improve around 12 weeks and we started to wean her off it. Then the four month sleep regression hit which was fairly brutal.

We moved her to her own room at 7 months (silent reflux in the distant past at that stage) and she instantly became a good sleeper. Bedtimes remained challenging for a good while which I'm convinced was because she was so used to being held to go to sleep from when she was tiny, took us a long time to break that. But no regrets, and what else can you do.

Hang on in there OP. It's brutal, but you will move past it.

@boringcreation thank you. We've got a wedge under his Moses which is the only thing he's ever slept in. We've also got one on the crib but he won't stay in there to sleep at all.

We are trying to push a dummy on him but he's not massively keen and spits it out a lot annoyingly.

Hope omeprazole kicks in soon although I'm doubtful it will help as surely stomach contents will still rise up into his throat

@CtrlU ok did you check with the doctor or anything or just go ahead? We are using comfort formula which is already quite thick. What size teats did you use?

The doctor recommended it to us as my son had terrible reflux and one day we came home from a walk and he was inside his buggy facing me. I turned round for 1 second to take my jacket off and when I looked at him his mouth was overflowing with milk and his eyes bright and he was so scared.

When I explained that to the doctor they gave us the thick and easy.

It definitely helped as it made the milk thicker so my son could drink it but it wasn’t too thick. We used medium teats
