Real nappy poo-containing challenge

ladymixalot · 21/11/2007 10:16

Ds has been in Bumbles for ages (with a Motherease Airflow wrap) and I have been very pleased with them, until he got to 11 months and for some reason since then his poo has been far from roll-off-the-nappy; it's a real mess most times. Often it escapes right up his back, too. I have tried a variety of liners and so far have found the Popli ones best as they are so big.

I'm not tempted to go back to dizzies at all because he ALWAYS leaks from those whenever he poos.

Is there anything obvious I might be doing wrong? Is there a more reliable nappy to keep these poo-namis contained?

Another issue is that I know the childminder finds it hard to change the two-part nappies quickly, so I am thinking of trying an all-in-one to help her out. Or are the all-in-ones more prone to leaks?

Any advice much appreciated.

Thanks for the reply. None of my usual nappy haunts seem to stock bumgenius. Where do you get them from?

The Bumbles are one size. They do seem to fit really well, tbh, and the wrap too, pretty tight. When I come to take it off after a poo leak I think to myself "How on earth did it get out of there?'

We found the best wraps for ds were Naturebabies - also liked the side fastening once we'd got used to it - seemed to get a better fit. Ds went into Totsbots size 2 from 6mo as the nursery could cope with these - during non-nursery times we generally used prefolds (as dried more quickly and less expensive) with Totsbots just for when we went out. hope you find something that works for you soon.

Just looked at price, I think £14 for birth to potty AIO one size is good value, you would normally pay that for a sized one. I think Nappyzone stocks the Bumgenius

CarGirl · 21/11/2007 16:24

HemPresto are fantastic, dh is most cross that I have switched to bamboo as we often have poo leaking onto the wraps but I really want the super slim look of bamboo. Check out the HemPresto website if you're interested I have loads to sell 2nd hand

lemonaid · 21/11/2007 16:34

Could it be the size? The only time we ever got poo leaks with DS was when he needed to go up a size (or are Bumbles one size? I forget, we only had one Bumble).

lemonaid · 21/11/2007 16:35

Ah, I see someone else has already said they are one size. I would be inclined to try a different type, maybe something that is sized.

lailasmum · 21/11/2007 16:39

I would be tempted to just try a different wrap. Maybe something that fits higher up his body so there is a bit more fabric to help contain things.

ladymixalot · 21/11/2007 16:41

I've ordered 3 Bumgenius for £36 from Nappyzone, having had my shameful tight-fistedness pointed out . Looks like I'll have to wait a while as they're so popular!
Thanks for all your help.

didn't mean it like that! Just that AIO are expensive anyway

ladymixalot · 21/11/2007 16:43

Just missed your post lailasmum - I did look into different wraps but tbh the ME airflow goes quite far up.

I have a sneaking suspicion this problem will only go away in the dim and distant future once he is potty-trained...
