Nappy liners - terrible poo catchers?

Should I blame the children, or the nappies, or does everyone have this problem?

It just gets soooo messy. I have a solids fed toddler, use motherease onesize with paper liners (either the large thin ones or the thicker narrower ones). Fleece is even more icky as they do not just roll-off as promised.
And it was just the same with DS1.

I'm wondering if the pop-in liner is a contributory?

Sorry - I meant pop-in BOOSTER (not liner)

is your baby very wriggly? Sometimes if they wriggle a lot and the liner moves around. Normally if they are solids fed the poo is solid enough that it does roll off i would only think if they have gone and then sat it it and squished it into the liner that it would be that sticky on a weaned baby. Not much to suggest really. You could try those those ultra liners that are normally recommended for newborns as they seem a bit more solid and may move less.

It depends on the child really - DS goes through stages, sometimes he is roll off poo, sometimes messy.

I tend to use the big cheap liners because I find they overhang the edge of the nappy

My dd also has varying poo thickness. One will be solid and roll off, the next can be a proper messy explosion.
I generally just use fleece now and any that doesn't plop off the liner just goes in the machine (i do try to remove any solid lump or bits of food though!)
I found the php liners were quite good at containing explosions-just used to lie them flat in the nappy so they poked out of the legholes and that seemed to stop any getting onto the nappy itself
