Water wipes

I can't stand the new water wipes and was wondering if anyone had found any good alternatives. I know they're more environmentally friendly but not when you have to use half a pack!

So glad to know I'm not going mad!

I normally buy the bulk box - I think 42 packs of wipes? And on my latest order felt as if they weren't as soft (? Is that the right term) as previously. Thought maybe it was just a dodgy batch haha.

I have been using Aveeno wipes which are nice. Think they are on offer atm.

MyGrassIsBrowner · 12/06/2021 23:19

They're so expensive now too! But totally agree, they are a load of shite now!

No definitely not just you! Good to know about the aveeno ones, will try them out!

If you are looking to be environmentally friendly- buy a dozen flannels or muslin squares. Damp/wet them, use, wash, reuse.

Otherwise - just use cheapy wipes. Bin them, don't flush them.

KatherineOfGaunt · 12/06/2021 23:31

Flannels (or proper reusable wipes like Cheeky Wipes), surely, if you're trying to be environmentally friendly?

If I really have to, I use the Eco wipes as they're biodegradable, but I find water on a flannel works brilliantly. Plus no chemicals; I had an itchy night on both hands following the use of a Pampers wipe at a health visitor clinic pre-covid.

Metallicalover · 12/06/2021 23:40

Cheeky wipes!
I use Aldi's own make sometimes but mostly cheeky wipes x

shadesofcool · 13/06/2021 00:14

Cheeky wipes are great for eco friendly.

I use aldi extra sensitive wipes instead of water wipes - I found the new water wipes dry and much more rough! Love the aveeno wipes too

Skyla01 · 13/06/2021 08:20

I use cheeky wipes. They clean really well, much better than a disposable wipe IMO. Plus eco friendly.

MariaDingbat · 13/06/2021 22:30

The new ones aren't as wet and just don't clean properly. I used to have a reservoir of water at the end of the pack, now they're barely damp. So disappointing. I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed!

I googled it and there's a tonne of similar comments on trust pilot so definitely not just us!

Aldi do their own version of water wipes which I really like! Only 55p a pack

User52739 · 14/06/2021 05:16

Cheeky wipes are amazing. I absolutely hate using wet wipes, they’re so flimsy. A cheeky wipe is lovely and substantial and much more environmentally friendly.

HercwasanEnemyofEducation · 14/06/2021 06:35

Cheeky wipes (or equivalent).

linerforlife · 14/06/2021 06:37

Both Aldi and Tesco make biodegradable versions of water wipes, and are both cheap and good. I also like the brand Pura but they're more expensive.

JustWonderingIfYou · 14/06/2021 06:50

I really like aquawipes. Used to use water wipes but hated how wet they were. Tried all the cheep ones but they are really crap in comparison and you end up using more.
They are supposedly biodegradable too. I get the multipack when on offer at ocado and works out about 1.50 a pack which lasts 2 weeks or so for my toddler.

neverstophopping · 14/06/2021 13:13

Theres a brand called Aquawipes which are fabulous. Their social media feed is really funny too

SuddenArborealStop · 14/06/2021 13:16

I don't get the point of the biodegradable wipes tbh , I put used wipes in the nappy and put in the bin. I'm never going to put them to one side to do something different with.

Agree. What are others doing with used wipes?
