Noisy neighbours

Can anybody help with some advice, maybe even sound proofing ideas as I'm fully aware people are entitled to make noise!

We got new neighbours last year and since the sun has been out, their kids have been outside everyday. We get along well with them and if we ever need anything we just text them so would feel awkward mentioning this to them.

Since around two weeks ago, their children have been outside playing, one constantly cries and doesn't really get acknowledged for crying and spends a lot of their time screaming at the top of their lungs. I am fully aware children make noise, I have a 7 month old and know I have this to come!!

My issue is, when my little girl is napping with the window shut, they are screaming and crying so loud that it is waking her constantly. It's becoming an issue as when she doesn't get enough sleep, she can be very grouchy.

Has anyone had this issue before and been able to sound proof a room better? Her room is to the back of the house, we do have music on for her quite loud to try and down out their noise but doesn't seem to work enough.

Any ideas welcome!!

I have one of these. He just complains. A lot. And loudly. However he knows that if he has to be reminded to think of our neighbours more than once he comes in for 20 minutes. It works.

I would just very gently ask your neighbour if the children could be asked to keep the noise down around nap times. Don't name the culprit trust me they they know.

If that doesn't work play some white noise and it'll drown out the childs moaning.

Yeah, try white noise specifically rather than just music. It should help your little one. Unfortunately you don't really have the right to ask kids to be quiet in the daytime in their own garden

Agree with this. As your baby is 7 months its not as if its once a day you'd be asking them to keep it down, would you be asking them to keep it down 2 or 3 times a day? That could get quite tiresome. White noise is worth a try. I use it. I have a MyHummy which I really like, but tbh you can pick up baby white noise sleep machines from amazon that are cheaper. Or could you go for a walk or a drive for one of the naps? So your LG will have uninterrupted sleep. Its not ideal though.

Thanks everyone.

I have Ewan the sheep and we play white noise/baby sleep music through Google home on 40% volume on top floor of a town house however they are so loud that my LG still wakes up and she's usually a heavy sleeper!

She woke up 3 times today! So tiring trying to get her back to sleep and just feel like I can't even relax now whilst she sleeps as I'm just on edge waiting for her to wake up to their noises lol
