What do your wash your LO’s clothes with considering they have eczema. I’m using fairy non bio liquid at the moment. Not sure if this contributes to the eczema.

Eczema needs a strict diet - usually no dairy, wheat, sugar, tomatoes, oranges, etc, etc - research diet and eczema.

We use an eco egg. Occasionally we need to use some vanish prior to washing but generally the egg works well.

My eldest has severe eczema that is under control at the moment after hospital treatment. I asked about limiting his diet but was told not to and he doesn't seem to be affected by what he eats. I wash his clothes with any sensitive pods or soap powder, nothing fragranced.

Tara please do not give advice out like that.

OP please do not cut out any major food groups without seeing a dr first. My first born has/had severe eczema as well as food allergies. Dairy was not one of them.

Back to washing. I use fairy non- bio and about half as much as you would normally. No softener. I also put the washing on an extra rinse and dry clothes in the dryer ( to avoid outdoor allergens).

I recommend seeing a dermatologist as soon as you can. It makes such a difference. Pay if you have too. We had a long session with our dermatologists eczema nurse ( over an hour) going over the ins and outs of dealing with eczema and it really made a difference.

A bit of a generalisation there. 🙄

I use Boots own brand Sensitive Skin washing powder. No scent. Works a treat. My children are all teenagers now & I still use it. Only "problem" is that it doesn't keep whites sparkly white but I'm willing to forgo that for healthy skin.

Dettol laundry detergent.

The causes of eczema is different for everyone. My DC's eczema improved once we started using Dettol laundry detergent.

I tried soap nuts for a couple of years as part of a bigger plan to cut out 'chemicals' to help with my son's excema. They work really well, in my opinion, and my son hasn't had excema for years now. Not sure why I swapped back to washing powder, but I use non-bio now.

We use an ecoegg and think it's great. I think the only detergents approved by allergy UK are surcare, ecover zero and ecoegg so I would go with one of those.

Despite loads of great reviews by daughter majorly reacted to boots sensitive laundry powder.

Only if it's due to an allergy or intolerance..

Our daughters eczema has improved since bathing her less often and in plain water only and using baby Aveeno lotion. You could also try putting porridge oats in a pair of tights and putting in the bath while you run the water like a bath bomb. I’ve had eczema flare ups in adulthood and Aveeno has always helped x

My adult DS has suffered with awful eczema his entire life. He's had every treatment going including light therapy. It turns out that he has an auto immune disease.
