Camping with a Baby!

Hi all ☺️
We're due to go to a festival in August (postponed from last year!) and our son will be 6 months old. We'll be camping and it's hard enough just going for a day out, never mind a weekend!! There's no electric hook up at the site, just wondered if anyone had any tips or advice to make it as easy as possible?? He's bottle fed so got that to consider and also may be weaning then as well.
I can't wait but I'm also dreading it a little so any help would be appreciated!
Thanks in advance x

@onlyreadingneverposting8 I'm sure last time they didn't have much in the way of facilities other than portaloos (the joys!) But then again I don't suppose I would've been looking so will have a look on the site and see. So helpful, thank you

@Blueballinthegarden hmmm, the launderette. Now you're talking! Thanks so much for the advice, I feel a lot less anxious about it now.

@elf1985 that sounds fab. Ours is defo nowhere near as accommodating as that! Good idea with the lights on the buggy, will have a look at a decent one. Is he old enough for a buggy at 6 months? (Sorry if that's an odd question, first baby!)

Seems like so much effort for a 40 min car journey... Why not just drive each day?!

Re the travel cot lid - we only used it like that for a little while to shade him from the sun while playing, and there was a breeze so it blew nicely through the mesh sides. But if the tent is up when you get there you should be fine!

We used the sit up buggy part of iCandy Peach when DD was 6 months (not explaining that well but not the carry cot bit) so probably not far off a buggy, we also used a baby back pack so she had a nice view and was helpful when the terrain wasn’t buggy friendly...reckon you’ll be fine with a buggy at a festival though.

We camped with 7 month old DD last week. I booked the kettle in the morning and put it in the flask then used it to warm up the bottle of ready made. Same for food pouches.

Alternatively, keep some cooled boiled water and do a couple of oz of boiling to sterilise powder and top up with cooled. Like the perfect prep does.

DD has just started crawling so a waterproof suit was a godsend.
A spare tarp that can be put on the floor for baby to sit outside is useful.

I slept with her next to me. I don't think that she would have been warm enough without sharing my body heat a bit.

Boiled

@Horehound I've already paid for camping now. But besides that, I want the full experience and I want my LO to have it too. Think it's better being closer to home so if things really do go tits up you're not too far away. Have to get out of my comfort zone eventually 🤷

@Talipesmum of course, forgot the sides are usually mesh, sorry. Good idea really!

@Blueballinthegarden I know what you mean re the sit up buggy part. We were going to get a smaller buggy at some point anyway for trips out. Prams take up A LOT of car space! I have a baby carrier I was going to take as well, he loves it in there!

@WithRosesAroundTheDoor think that's what I'm going to do (boiled water and cooled sterile water) that's what I usually do when I go out. Just panicking about how to get the boiled water but we can just use a stove and fill the flask like you say. Ah, spare tarp, good call. Was going to take blankets but that won't be any good if it's wet! Don't really want to co sleep as we will be having a drink. Not a lot, but it's not a good idea no matter how much you've had really, can never be too careful! I could always take turns with my partner and alternate drinking nights if we need to if you gets too cold though.
