Weaning - how long for single tastes?

My baby is six months and 1 week old. We’ve done about two weeks of single-ingredient solids (a mixture of finger foods and lumpy purées, all bitter veg so far).

When did you start introducing flavour combinations and more complicated food?

He has taken to weaning really well - feeds himself brilliantly, has liked everything we’ve given him so far. I just don’t know how long before I start making him more interesting things.

Now. There is no need to give single tastes.

No need for single tastes unless you are weaning early.

At 6 months baby can eat pretty much anything except whole nuts, honey and raw shellfish.

You can him whatever you are eating as a mix of spoon and finger foods.

My babies started on things like roast beef dinners with the beef and veggies as finger foods and mashed potato and gravy as spoon food.

The finger food only gets played with at the start.

Right away, no need to limit what you offer (unless you have allergies in very close family members). My eldest's first meal was colcannon, roasted parsnips and carrots with garlic and thyme, and a yorkshire pudding. 2nd one, I have no idea, but it was a similar sort of family meal.
