Hi all
My baby is 3 months, i take breastfeeding multi vits as i am ebf but i have just read online about vit d drops and that he should have these from birth?! Ive been told nothing abiut these and to be honest didnt know they were a thing! Im freaking out right now that I've done wrong by him not having these, of course I will start from now, my mum said when she had the kids they were not given these and to stop worrying but i cant help it, any advice? Don't worry about it! I didn't realise I was supposed to give them for my first until he was on solids. It wasn't mentioned by anyone like HV or midwives and don't remember reading it anywhere at the start. Just give them from now and don't beat yourself up about it, your mum is right. Plus it's really sunny now so plenty of natural vitamin D Smile

Yes you should be giving him them from birth but unless he has blood relations especially children with vitamin D deficiencies then don't worry.

Also once he is weaned at around 6 months you need to start giving him multi-vitamins that contain vitamin A, C and D.

(BTW I learnt all this about 5 years ago when it popped up on the BBC news site and immediately told all my friends with small kids as loads of people hadn't been told by HVs.)

Hi, you should be getting free drops from your health visitor (I did until I stopped asking for them as we switched to formula which had enough vit d). Maybe it's worthwhile giving them a call to check.
