19 week old really fighting naps and bedtime

So I think my 19 week old ds has been going through the dreaded 4 month sleep regression for a few weeks now. Luckily it seems to only be affecting his daytime naps at the moment (hope I haven't jinxed myself there!) However, the past few days his nap fighting has gone up a level and now included bedtime fighting too. He screams and screams at the top of his lungs, even while I'm holding/rocking and trying to comfort him. It's so bad I feel like it must be hurting his little throat 😔 it can take a good hour at bedtime to settle him. Just wondering/hoping if this is just a phase and will pass? I find it so upsetting and exhausting! Any kind words of advice or stories of others who have been there and got through it are kindly welcomed! Mama on the edge here 😭

Could he be overtired? How much sleep does he get in a 24 hour period? Might be worth making bedtime earlier possibly. And have you tried just putting him down in the cot rather than rocking to sleep? I did pick up put down with my youngest at about that age so I only picked him up if he was really upset and then I put him down straight away after a quick cuddle.

@TooMinty yes I think he probably is overtired. He fights his naps too and quite often wakes after 30mins 😩 he roughly gets between 13-14hrs in a 24 hour period. I have tried just putting him in his cot, with little success, he screams in there too! I've got another thread on here about him not sleeping in his cot during the day and only sleeping on me. I tried PUPD earlier this week but he still got really worked up to the point where I couldn't console him, so I gave in. Maybe I'll give it another go though! How long did it take to work with your youngest?

@TooMinty also, I tried an earlier bedtime tonight and even though he did still kick up a bit of a fuss, he wasn't nearly as bad as previous nights! So I think you're on to something there 🙌🏻

Oh that sounds promising with the early bedtime! Yes, my youngest was a terrible napper - used to have maybe 3 twenty minute cat naps a day. Sometimes I put him to bed at 6pm when he'd had awful naps. I think it took about a week of PUPD to work but he wasn't as sleep resistant at bedtime as yours sounds! Have you got a bedtime routine like milk, pjs, story? I think that helps too.
