Colic/cma?

My boy has always had stomach troubles ie constipation shortly after birth followed by awful colic.

About 2 weeks ago i changed his formula to kendamil after hearing that its easier for them to digest and also has no fish oil and palm oil so i switched to the organic make. His colic eased massively the first few days but is slowly making a return and im wondering if its maybe cma?? Hes been on cow and Gate, aptamil and now this and he hasnt much luck with any :( also since being on kendamil his poo's are always green and smell so bad 🤢 is this normal? Hes 7 weeks old x

Colic won't make him constipated but you're right CMPA will.

I'd have a read of this article from Allergy UK and if it sounds like the symptoms are the same, speak to your GP Thanks

Thanks! He isnt constipated anymore and then colic appeared. He only goes once every 2 or 3 days its a normal texture he just really struggles to get it out and spends hours grunting and distressed :( ive tried everything i can think of to help him but nothing is working!

If he's distressed when pooing, it does suggest that there's something going on.

Was the article from Allergy UK useful?

This is my first baby so its all new to me. Don't worry, if it is CMPA, you'll learn quickly and it's fairly easy do deal with, especially now that food is clearly labelled with allergens Smile

There are 2 types of CMPA, ige and non-ige. It does sound as if your LO may have non-ige CMPA.

This article from Kellymomm* is aimed at BFers but explains the difference between ige and non-ige very well.

If you do go to the GP they should precise a formula suitable for babies with CMPA and refer you to a Paediatric Dietician. The NICE Guidelines tell you what to expect from your GP.

When I first visited the GP, I'd printed out the article from Allergy UK and took it with me. They're a well respected charity and the GP should listen Smile
