Sleepovers at Grandma's at 9 months?

I've been a bit poorly lately and my mum's offered to have DS to stay for the night, either as a one-off or whenever she can (which would probably be about once a month).

I'm a SAHM but have had one or two nights away from DS and from a selfish point of view it's a great idea. But is he a bit young to be starting this? Or am I just subconsciously worried that I'm copping out / admitting I can't cope? Anyone else started doing this so early?

Hiya - my Mum started having my dd when she was 6 months old. My Mum said she felt quite comfortable with her at that age, so I think you'll be fine

Keet - if you have a willing Mum then go for it. My ds is 2.9 and I ever did it, so now he's not use to sleeping over somewhere else and I regret it.

My mom first had my Dd overnight when she was 4 weeeks old and now has continued to do so with dd2 also.

Everyone needs a break now again, there is nothing wrong in that.

Thanks zephyr, I think I just needed someone to say it's OK! Mum is great - looks after DS a lot and is totally confident with him - I trust her 100%!

go for it! willing grandparents make one's life SO much easier, bless them.

my parents had dd for a night before she was a year old. it was a triumph. we all felt good for it. dd perfectly happy, my parents really chuffed with themselves, and we felt so glad to know that in emergencies, dd would be fine there. it has become a regular thing, they usually have her a couple of times a year, and she really looks forward to it.

(my parents always need a bit of a lie-down afterwards though)

When dd was 10 months old we went away for a week leaving my dd with my mum and dad

I wish mine would volunteer

ds is 2y 3m and my parents had him once - when he was 12 months old and it was our wedding night! I had to ask even then!

Go for it!

Lottie has been staying at her nana's overnight now and then since about..... week 3! Actually it wasn't quite that early but not far off!

Absolutley go for it, it's good for you, good for your son and good for you mum, everyone's a winner.
