Not quite parenting but didn't know where else to put!!!

My neighbours do my head in!! Every single time I open the back door, they open theirs within about 30 seconds. They are really nice people, but they want a chat every single time they see us outside and it can go on for half hour at a time.

Also, every single time they see me outside with the kids, the Mum comes out and says "oh you don't mind if she comes over do you (her 3 year old). I have 2 kids (aged 1&3), so it's not like it's a piece of piss to look after those 2 let alone having another one. I said yes almost every time because I felt like I had to, then last time I was a bit snappy and said "only for 5 minutes because I've just finished work". She looked really taken aback but was calling her back after 5 mins.

I just don't get it, I think it's really rude to keep trying to shove her child on me. Why can't I go in my own garden in peace?? Aaarg

Just say no when she asks you to have her DC, or say "I've had yours the last few times, how about you have my 2?". Surely that would stop her? Or tell her you're too busy or don't feel up to it? Ultimately, don't let people walk all over you op. If you keep letting this happen then it will only get worse as time goes on.

What a CF! I would just say a variation of no, not right now and hopefully she’ll get the message!

If they're nice, responsible people I'd get in there first and ask if DD can play at theirs.
I think this will put an end to it.
