Okay, I'll start. Obviously.

  1. It's amazing watching my DS develop and change
  2. It's amazing watching him discover the world
  3. When I'm feeling low he makes me laugh and cheers me up instantly
  4. I'm constantly humbled by the fact that my body could produce such an incredible little person
  5. You can be silly in public and no-one bats an eyelid

  1. When they jump into the bed in the morning and cosy in for a while
  1. When you explain something and you can tell the moment they understand
  1. When they do something unexpected and your heart fills up with pride and love
  1. When you have just finished telling them off for their behaviour and they come and sit on on your knee and say, "Sorry, Mama. I love you"
  1. When you snuggle up together in bed to read a bedtime story and they giggle at a funny part

1 His giggle is the cutest sound ever
2 He is such a gorgeous baby
3 The speed he crawls across the room when his Dad gets in from work
4 The way his face lights up when I come upstairs to feed him after Daddy has bathed and PJd him
5 The intensity of everything - excitement, frustration and pleasure equally!
And despite that I still think you shouldn't pick on Malo for not having a good time, although she does seem proud of being negative. Yes being a parent is a choice but you don't know what its going to be like.
I wouldn't be without him, even though there are days I can't wait for DH to get in so I can go hide for a bit.

1 All the firsts - first smile, first laugh, first 'playful' time, DS is only 6 months so I have plenty to come
2 Going to the supermarket takes twice as long but is twice as much fun as staff and shoppers talk to you
3 Seeing his face after being apart from him for a while
4 When he falls asleep as I'm cuddling him
5 The way he's fascinated by everything, wants to touch and chew it

  1. DS wiping away my tears if I cry and stroking my face.
  1. DS clinging onto me when I try to get off the sofa to check the dinner cos he wants to snuggle with me.
  1. Takign DS (nearly 2) to bed with me and falling asleep together.
  1. Strangely, when he is ill knowing that he wants his mummy and nobody else will do. Obv I dont wnat him to be ill tho.
  1. Watching him get excited and learn new things.

  1. Cuddles with my children. I love the smell of their hair and skin
  1. I get to see the world through a childs eyes again and it is wonderful
  1. They make me laugh and all have a great sense of humour each.
  1. They love me for who I am and I am the most important person in there little world.Even if only for a short time before they grow up

Can't think of another one. I can say that I count my lucky stars everyday that I am so lucky to have them.

I could never see why both of our parents were desperate to have grandchildren until just recently when I have realised that my children are growing up so fast. Hard to imagine my life without little ones. My nan always says to me enjoy every minute you have with them and I do.
Not that we are the waltons you understand. I still shout at them everyday. Character building I would say

  1. When my DD bangs her teeth in to mine because she thinks it is a kiss and I didnt even ask for one.
  1. When DS tells me "I am so happy Mummy" when we are doing something together.
  1. When DS achieves something like his alphabet or learning to write numbers 1 - 10 and I just feel like I am going to burst with pride.
  1. Watching my kids faces when they have new experiences I knew they would love when I planned them.
  1. Bedtime. Not just because I am having a break either - but because they are asleep and well fed and comfortable and I feel peaceful.
SleepIsForTheWeak · 22/11/2007 21:42
  1. waking up to the sound of "choo choo!"
  1. They way they sometimes look at you, in a kind of approving way!
  1. Proper belly laughs whilst playing
  1. watching them figure something out for themselves
  1. Having a glass of wine when they have finally gone to sleep!!!!
Wotzupnow · 22/11/2007 21:45

Makes you appreciate every minute
Makes you appreciate every hour
Makes you appreciate every day
Makes you appreciate every month
Makes you appreciate every year

PetitFilou1 · 22/11/2007 21:48

plus

  1. seeing ds and dd lying together in dd's cot in the morning after ds has climbed in
  2. hearing them laughing, especially together
  3. seeing ds almost burst with happiness when he does something he doesn't think he can do
4.seeing concrete mixers/diggers/fire engines through new eyes
MorocconOil · 22/11/2007 22:00

Cuddling them and feeling their peachy skin
Laughing about something you all find funny
Feeling really proud when they show sensitivity towards others
Helping them to enjoy learning about history, art, science, music, books etc
Watching their confidence and independence grow

sparklyjen · 22/11/2007 22:12
  1. Being allowed to play on jungle gyms again!
  2. Having a fantastic reason to get up in the morning, look after yourself and work hard.
  3. Being able to talk to youself while walking down the road/through the supermarket without looking like you're talking to yourself.
  4. Lego
  5. Knowing unconditional love and the pure, true happiness of it.

Conversely, the worst worst thing about being a parent is the crippling fear you feel if you ever consider the possibility of something bad happening to them.

DaisyNightingale · 22/11/2007 22:27
  1. their boundless enthusiasm for every new experience
  2. the smell of DSs sweaty head and DDs lovely baby toast smell.
  3. that moment of utter joy that creeps over me when I watch them sleeping, even though they have driven me nuts all day.
  4. hearing the words I love you mummy.
  5. hearing praise from other people about how well behaved/clever/polite they are.
