Essential oil diffuser for toddler room instead of vicks plug in

Does anyone know if you can/how to use an essential oil diffuser with a wee bit of chamomile and eucalyptus instead of constantly buying vicks plugins?

Our wee one started nursery recently and has had back to back colds ever since 🙈

We use olbas oil on a tissue put into the pillow cover

We used a diffuser like that, it worked for us

I re used the vicks pads by soaking in olbas oil and it seemed to work fine, although not as strong

Yes it's fine to use an electric diffuser in toddler bedroom. Keep the room ventilated and turn it off after 30 mins. Don't use eucalyptus at night as it's stimulating and be careful if you have pets as it can be toxic. You may prefer to use lavender and tea tree. Buy good quality oils, eg Neals Yard.

Thanks guys. @mothtoaflame would the tea tree help with the nasal congestion?

Hi @cherry85, yes tea tree is a decongestant, antiviral & antibacterial so will help infection whilst also being an immune stimulant. Tea tree can also be harmful to pets but if they are not in the room, that's fine.

tea tree is a decongestant? Useful to know. We use it in the bath as a mild disinfectant but use Eucalyptus in the diffuser for colds.

OP, the only thing to be careful of (yes, learnt from experience) is to be careful to keep it far away from child. Still don't know how, but DD managed to knock it to the ground and we had water everywhere. Clearly, this probably is something we should have anticipated but, in our defence, we genuinely did think it was out of the way!

I just pop some olbas oil on a cloth and hang out of reach in the room. Does the job at a fraction of the cost.
If baby is very congested taking them in the bathroom while you have a shower can be really helpful.

Just be really careful, I knocked my reed diffuser over and it burned through the surface it was standing on very quickly.
